Vanguard PH-113V Magnesium Tripod Video Head

Great tripod head. Very fluid and solid. Easy to mount and dismount the quick connect clip.

Works quite smoothly. I started with a PH-111V from another vendor and it was sticky in up down (vertical) panning so I returned it. I talked to Vanguard technical service and they said the PH-113V would be better for what I was going to use it for - spotting scope work. Took two tries here as the first tripod head I received had a problem with the horizontal panning tension knob. Amazon readily agreed to send a replacement and the replacement tension knob was much better. I go into the field in about two weeks and will be using it daily for about a week but out in the yard scanning the mountains I live close to it works very well.

This would be an excellent head were it not for the fact that the handle is attached with a hex screw. This makes it impossible to adjust on the fly. Why the manufacturer would skimp on this feature is beyond me. So you need to carry around a hex key just to adjust this. On top of that, when you loosen the handle, it quickly falls out, making for a very frustrating experience. I replaced the handle with a Benro handle and all is well, but I shouldn't have had to do that. I like the size, the weight, the smoothness of the pan and tilt, but if I had known about the handle I probably would not have purchased this.

Great durable, no-nonsense mount. I use this for my spotting scope while hunting.

Same review as the PH-114V. I get about 1 year of service before fluid starts leaking out. Poorly designed and obviously a compatibility issue with the fluid and o-ring seal. Combine short lifespan and zero customer support from Vanguard. I've had a Vanguard for 4 years and am on my 4th fluid head

This ball is excellent, I have high pro 263AT, I recommend excellent fluidity

Not true fluid head, was really stiff at first and is now getting worked in and smoother but the head joint is getting a little loose, May have to return for warranty. In the world of fluid heads, you get what you pay for.
