This is a simple, but very nice unfinished wood box. I ordered it for my son to use as a jewelry or trinket box. He’s always loved to be creative and was very excited with the idea of being able to paint this. It is Pine wood, which is very soft. If you’re not familiar with this type of wood, you should know that the box will likely get a little dented or nicked up if not painted or varnished with a hard coat. It’s not a product flaw. It’s just how the wood is. The box was well constructed and feels very sturdy. The hardware (hinges and the front closure) seem to be solid and have a nice antiqued finish and pretty design. You can unscrew the hardware easily and then reapply in order to paint or stainthe box. The box feels very solid, closes completely and has no warping. It’s a very nice piece for those that are crafty. My son will likely paint it and then paint some crazy design on it, but I also love unfinished furniture so that I can stain it the exact color that I would like to match other furniture. I think it’s a good deal for the price. We’re very happy with it and I would definitely recommend.

Nice little customizable box. I plan to make mine into a jewelry box. The wood is thick enough that you can't just push through the bottom or top the way you can with the thinnest craft woods. It's flat and smooth enough to work with my laser engraver. The clasp is a little different. I like it. It feels sturdier than the typical box closure, but I haven't had it long enough to know if it's long-term kind of sturdy. I feel confident this will be a good base box for a project. I have many times started on boxes that were too flimsy to even take the wear and tear of decorating, but this one seems like it can take it. It's not as thick or sturdy as hardwood, but as far as soft craft wood boxes go, it feels on the thicker side. Mine did not have divots or blemishes.

The craftsmanship is outstanding. The exterior is smooth with no imperfections, dents, rough spots, or splintering. It’s ready to use as-is or as a blank canvas for any creative project. The clasp on the front is secure and well-aligned, and the hinges on the back are sturdy and positioned perfectly, allowing the lid to open and close smoothly. I’m extremely pleased with this purchase and will absolutely be ordering more in the future. Highly recommend!

It feels lightweight but sturdy enough for stationary use on a desk or shelf. There was a small gap in the corner seam where the lid meets the base. It came well packaged in bubble wrap so I think this is a result of the soft nature of pine. Fortunately, because the wood is unfinished, this can be corrected with a bit of wood filler and light sanding. It has a front-mounted, antique-style swing clasp in a brass/bronze finish. It adds a nice touch of character and keeps the lid securely closed. The back is fitted with two matching butterfly hinges, and they allow the lid to open fully, providing easy access to the interior. The interior is spacious enough for jewelry, office supplies, craft tools, or even small electronics. It's a great box and would look great on your desk or dresser.
