Purchased a size 13 for my husband, he is 6'7 280 lbs, the comfort is great, good ankle support but a little stiff, needs to be worn a couple times to break them in, recommend wearing long socks not short or ankle socks, fit is perfect for a narrow or normal foot size, might not be comfortable for a wide foot, good for indoor skating, padding was good, true to size, the only thing he said he would change was the wheels to something that would allow him to go faster, the ride is smooth with the stock wheels. otherwise it's a great skate for anyone and a great value and quality for the price

Good value for the price. Solid built. Scotia, scuff the uppers and you’ll notice that the vinyl peels right off or is that imitation leather I don’t know.. but anyway it’s a pretty good skate.

First of all, Chicago skates are one size larger than your shoe size, so if you wear a size 9 shoe, you need a size 8 skate. This confused me, causing me to wind up with two pairs of skates instead of one, so they don't have much incentive to change that. Snug skates are absolutely necessary if you hope to learn skating tricks. Imagine trying to jump around in roller skates that hang loose on your feet! The leather is very soft from the moment you put these skates on! One reason I do love Chicago's leather skates is there is no breaking in time. You shouldn't have to learn to skate with bloody, chafed up feet! The smooth nuts and bolts on Chicago skates are easy to loosen and tighten but, unfortunately, also easy for them to come loose while you are skating! Despite my best efforts to tighten everything, I eventually lost a toe stop on the rink when I was skating and also had my front wheels swinging from side to side. Get yourself some blue loctite and glue all nuts and bolts where you want them and they'll stay, no matter how hard you skate. One thing I hate about Chicago skates is you will likely want to replace the ball bearings as soon as you get them. The wheels rock a bit on the bearings. Get some Bones bearings first thing, and you'll be able to skate better. The thing I hate most about the size 9 skates is that the back wheels are further forward than they are on the size 10 skates! I wish this was not the case. I have both sizes, since I didn't realize I should order a size down. Once I got the size 9's, I still kept the 10's, because the placement of the wheels on the size 10 is better for balance. The back wheels on the 10's are further back, preventing me from falling backwards and hitting my head on the rink any time somebody unexpectedly zips in front of me. No, this is not a function of the 10's being bigger. Chicago's size 9 and 10 skates are actually built differently, with size 10's being built the way skates should be. Size 9's fit my feet, but I feel like I have to lean forward whenever I am on them. I feel unsafe standing straight up while roller skating, because the back wheels on the size 9's (and only the size 9's?) are too far forward. The size 10's are too big for my feet, but I can side surf in those, because the wheels under my feet are just right for balance. I can't side surf in the size 9's, because the front and back wheels are too close together under my feet for my ankles to be able to push against the skate from that angle and still maintain balance. Despite all of these problems, I still only order Chicago skates, because the comfort makes up for everything, once you know how to deal with Chicago skates (what to replace on them). I just wish I could get a size 9 boot with a size 10 heal and truck, for better balance. My old roller skates were perfect, but I don't remember the brand. They had more width between the front and back wheels to allow for better balance. Those skates allowed me to not only side surf but jump while skating forward and land skating backwards, and then just keep skating! Yes, I'm afraid the build of the roller skate does make a difference in how skilled of a skater you will appear to be.

Amazing skates!! I started learning on this pair and loved it! They are smooth and perfect for indoor use. Not to mention the color is adorable and the quality is amazing!! I ordered a size up and they fit perfect.

As the description states these are leather lined boots. The outside I believe is vinyl and the inside has a leather lining. The boots do need to be broken in so they will not be comfortable to start with. I wear a size 9.5 and I ordered a size 9 according to the sizing chart. The boot does run a little big they fit me like a size 9.5 to a size 10 shoe. There is about 3/4 inch room at the toe. I cannot find anywhere in the description that states the softness or hardness of the wheels. They seem to be softer than my long boards 78a wheels. So I would say these are probably 78a as well and are intended for outside use. I have used them indoors only and they are very grippy on the floor. I believe that's why a lot of people say you need to change the wheels. But if you're going to use these outdoors these are perfect wheels for beginners. The wheels measurements are 62mm by 34mm which is a good indication they are meant for outdoor use as well. A few papers come with the roller skates. It states they have a 30 day limited warranty. Which is ridiculous because most in person stores have a 90 day return policy. And the company says if you have any issues in the 30 days to return them to the place of purchase. Which pretty much means the company has no warranty of their own. Along with the information that comes with the skates, it says that the roller skates need very little adjustment. I found this to not be true whatsoever. The toe stop was not adjusted at all, it was set to its highest position. So they had to be lowered quite a bit to make them functional. Side note (Toe stops are typically designed to be adjusted one time. Then replaced when they wear out, meaning there is no groove left on them). I also had to adjust the trucks, this is the part the wheels are attached to. One of the trucks was very loose which would have caused the plate to crack. I noticed at least one person in the reviews had a cracked plate. Most Adult roller skates are typically rated for 230 pounds anymore can cause the plate to crack. However if the truck is not adjusted properly on these skates it can cause the plate to crack also. Also if the jump plate is removed it can cause the plate to crack. The jump plate has nothing to do with jumping it is intended to keep pressure evenly distributed between the two trucks. Sense the plate and trucks are designed cheaper the jump plate needs to be installed. A paper actually comes with the skates stating that you are not to do any tricks with them including jumping. They are intended only for rolling. Which I find a little sad sense all skaters will need to jump at least once in awhile. The trucks were very difficult to adjust and had very little ability to be adjusted. The way the plate is designed in order to lower the cost of manufacturing it provides little adjusting ability. And makes it very difficult for them to actually be adjusted. A screw and a lock have to be adjusted at the same time in order to adjust them properly. If one or the other is not at the right position it can cause the plate to crack. The bushings on the trucks are strange. They're both the same shape and size. Usually one is coned shaped, but these ones are both large cylinders. I believe this is for the purpose of being able to adjust the inferior trucks. Otherwise they would not be able to be tightened properly. So if you do need to replace them make sure the bushings are replaced with the same kind. The roller skates come with a universal skate tool. Sadly this tool does not come with everything needed to adjust the skates. You can remove the nut on the wheels, adjust the toe stop, and one of the nuts on the trucks. But in order to adjust the trucks properly you will need an additional wrench. I do not recommend using a flathead screwdriver on the trucks, this will no doubt strip them. Overall my skates look brand new, but the trucks and the plates looked used. They were scratched up really bad. But the wheels were brand new never rolled on. So I think the plates and the trucks were just manufactured poorly. I did replace the bearings with ceramic ones. If you're a beginner I would suggest using the bearings that come with the skates for a month or so. I also added toe guards on the front of the skates in order to protect them from scuff marks. If you intend on using these at the rink or indoors you will need to invest in some new wheels. They will run approximately $50.00 to $100. A good softness rating would be 92a, those are a good all around indoor wheel. Would I recommend these roller skates. I would recommend these to a beginner that has the ability to adjust them themselves, or take them to a shop to be adjusted. Also I would recommend them for someone who wants to skate outdoors, so they won't have to spend anymore money. Otherwise use the extra money you would spend for new wheels to buy some better skates. These are good beginner roller skates in theory. It's just sad the company does not have good quality control, and does not stand behind their product with a good warranty. I actually watched a video where someone was given a free pair to make a promotional video or tutorial video for these skates. And the company actually gave them two different sizes, and one of the skate plates were installed wrong so the skate turned on its own. So even when they're trying to promote their roller skates their quality control is very subpar. I am considering returning these ones sense they are not 100% leather, and the trucks are ridiculously hard to adjust properly.

Got these to get some aerobics going. I used to speed skate for miles at a time and have had several pairs of skates and was picky about the wheels and bearings. At this price point I was skeptical as to quality. The uppers are a bit on the cheap side. Yeah, they are made with leather, but I have no Idea how they got it so thin over the top of the man made material. It’s not horrible but definitely the worst part of the skates. That said, the trucks are solid, the bearings good to better, and the wheels decent. I have extra wide feet so I ordered one size up. That worked well. Overall they are a great value. They really perform well.

Very well made, only wore them inside for now, but like them. Bought them for my daughter, and would buy a pair for myself. They are a little roomy. I'm a size 9 bought a 9 and a thicker pair of socks do the trick.

The quality of the rollerskate for the price is amazing. The boot is constructed of a fairly thick leather with a padded tongue for added comfort. Comes with a tool to tighten or loosen the wheels which is handy. When you get your skates check your toe stopper and wheels to see if they are loose or need tightening. The skates do fit big. I normally wear (depending on make) between size 9 or 10. I ordered the skates in a 10 and I have about 2.5 inches between the end of my big toe and the skate. I wear two pair of heavy wool socks to take up the gap which works but is not ideal. I'm keeping these rather than paying return shipping and I ordered another pair size 8 which I just recieved and happy to say are a perfect fit.
