Well I paid for mine so I don't have to pretend its good, because its not. The fundamental issue is that unlike the versions with a rigid nozzle that gets cleared on each plunger reset (the plunger goes further down to expel the solder) this design with the silicon nozzle gets blocked with solder after just a few (or even the first) successful solder removal. You then have to tease the solder out by bending and pinching, or pull it off and poke it out. Its got a good spring and release vacuum but the flexible nozzle idea is a failure.

Supplied in a blister pack, the rear of which has a concise set of operating instructions, this desoldering pump is made almost entirely of machined aluminium. The plunger has a very short travel, so it's easy to operate one-handed, but the internal spring takes up pretty much the entire barrel length meaning it has a very fast operation and a particularly strong vacuum suction. The pump can be easily disassembled for cleaning by unscrewing the smooth plunger head and button assembly and gently pulling the head out, or by unscrewing the conical nozzle. If the latter, be careful not to cinch or stretch out the airtight washer between nozzle and the mail body. The main shaft has a smooth machined etch-effect which feels good in the hand without being slippy. Two spare sections of heatproof nozzle tube are included, each 50mm long. The blurb states these are good up to 350 deg.C and as that's my usual operating temperature, it was easy to test that claim and, yes, the nozzle survived with no ill effects. Overall, this is a very well made pump and, priced at £7.59 at time of review, represents very good value for money for a well engineered desoldering tool. Highly recommended.

The build quality is better than the one that came with my soldering iron. It does look good & feels nice in hand, but I’m not sure about the silicon nozzle. To be honest, I’ve not had much success with any solder pump. I always end up having to use solder wick anyway so usually just use that. As I gain experience, I may find this useful, but for now I’ll continue to use the copper wick.
