Fits the Maytag Braxos XL, and fixes the noisy bearing problem!
We have had a Maytag Bravos XL washing machine for years, and it has gradually gotten so noisy that you couldn’t have a conversation while it was on the spin cycle. The problem is that the original drive seal, well, doesn’t, and it allows water from the tub to get into the shaft bearings. They corrode and make a horrendous racket while turning. Eventually, they will seize up and the washer will stop working, with just an error code on the screen. Before mine gave up the ghost, I decided to attempt the repair. I got quick answers from the seller on it fitting my machine. The cost was more than reasonable, as it includes the bearing installation tool. The tool alone, under the Whirlpool/Maytag brand, costs $20+ more than this whole kit!I followed a YouTube video from AppliancePartsPros.com, and the repair was complete in a little over 2 hours. You will have to overcome a few glitches or stuck parts here and there, but it was nothing the careful use of a hammer and wood block couldn’t overcome. Most importantly, the new seal is accomplished by a well-greased inner fit riding on two surfaces, and a tight outer fit that now includes a tacky adhesive to assure water doesn’t get by. I feel it’ll last much longer than the original setup. The washer works and sounds like new. I am very pleased with the quality and fit of the parts. I was thrilled that the tool was included! It sets the bearings perfectly. A great price on a great kit that was shipped quickly. Short of them coming to install it for me, that’s as good as it gets.

This kit works very well.
Something you should know up front.....I have over 30 years of professional mechanical experience.I did the job by myself with no assistance. There are a few videos online you can watch on how to perform the job.Not all models of machines will be exactly the same so expect some slight variations getting in and out. This took me a couple hours to complete from start to finish without rushing. I would say average Joe with mechanical aptitude and a non professional it will probably take anywhere from 3 to 7 hours to complete the job. Here are a few tips I will share:1. Make sure you have all the basic hand tools before starting.(mini sledge hammer or equivalent, screw driver set, a couple size channel locks and crescent wrenches, vehicle scissor jack, tape measure, skill saw + a 2x4)I personally recommend having a screw gun and an impact gun with a deep socket to save time on tear down.2. Throw the sealer away and use an automotive or marine grade silicone to adhere the seal to the tub. Permatex Ultra Black or Grey is fine.3. Make sure you "tap" the bearing installation dies with a hammer and punch when final seating the bearings to make sure they seat all the way quickly and easy. You do this to help ensure the bearing alignment is correct so the driveshaft will install quickly and easily. You can use WD-40 or equivalent on the tub before installing the bearings, just make sure you clean off all residue with brake cleaner on a towel once bearing installation is complete.4. Lube the driveshaft with a little bearing grease before installing.5. I recommend non professionals to have an assistant/second pair of eyes/problem solver on site at the time work is to be performed.6. Don't forget to pre-purchase and replace your water hoses at the same time and possibly your angle stop valves if they are needed. You will know if they are crusty or hard hard to turn/frozen.Finally, I will say that the "quality" of the bearings is NOT top of the line..... but they work and the machine that sounded like a weed eater is now "SILENT". It's actually so quiet I do not notice the machine is running. I forgot what it was like so this actually felt like a bonus.

Great product, gone bad
Original repair kit lasted 4+ years. When the bearings were loud again. I went with this kit again given how well things went the first time. Quality control has gone from this brand and seller. Original and replacement kits both had missing parts, defective and used items. Had to order from another seller. Now I'm getting the run around for a refund. Wish things had not changed.Original review below:In a day where everything is throw away and service repairmen charge what doctors do, its nice to be able to fix something that isn't truly worn out. This is no easy job but for the mechanically inclined, this is absolutely doable. My Maytag Bravos started making loud noises on spin and dumping water out the bottom after about 15 years. This kit came with EVERYTHING you need to replace the bearing, shaft and seal. Components were quality and fit together perfectly. With any luck, my washer will go another 15. I wouldn't hesitate tackling this job again. We have already put at least 80 loads through the washer since my repair and everything is holding up great. Good as new!A few things to note on the install. Watch a couple videos of someone else doing the same repair. Clean all of the parts in your old washer that you intend to reuse. The spacer washer is a pain. Use some grease on the washer to hold it in place while you press the assembly together. Make sure your press is assembled the right directly. It has a notch for the washer. Otherwise, you will end up making a problem for yourself and have to pull things apart.
