It really works.
I had impulsively dyed my hair from blond to dark brown and the brown had gone so so dark, more like black really and I felt like I was wearing a wig. Cue regret and desperation, needed help now! So instead of waiting to go to the hairdresser (who knows how long until I could get an appointment?) I searched online. I first tried washing out the colour with fairy liquid (3x washes later and only a fraction lighter) but realised I needed something more drastic. I found this on a Glamour magazine review and bought it. It is a faff to do, particularly the leaning over the bath and rinsing for 5 minutes at a time, and it doesn’t smell amazing but not at all as bad as some things smell. Just a bit sulphuric and chemically. Not much worse than some hair dyes to be honest. It is straightforward to apply (mix A & B in the A bottle - just like hair dye). You might need 2 if you have very long or thick hair but I didn’t use all of the stuff I had and I saturated my hair. I did panic at one stage because I saw my roots (naturally quite grey) going bright yellow under the cling film, so I didn’t leave the solution on for more than 35 mins (says 45) I think I could have done though as it hasn’t stayed yellow and it didn’t lift all the colour out of the ends of my hair. I have been left with a nice medium (slightly chestnut, orangy) brown that is much less harsh than the black against my pale skin. I actually quite like it the way it is, but if I want to change, I can now go to the salon when I have time, not in a panic. I did do a strand test first which reassured me that it would work, I recommend doing that.

Great product for removing some colour without bleach
Ok I will try and keep this as simple and as informative as I can. First, I am a hairdresser and decided I wanted to change my hair quickly, prime delivery is much faster than my wholesalers… spoiler, I will be buying some of this for work. Originally I had planned to have a contrast white blonde front piece against my level 4/5 dark brown hair. However, years of doing permanent dark brown on my roots and occasionally all over this would not be easy to achieve without lots of bleaching and wrecking my hair. So I brought the product and decided to strip some of the colour out of my hair, but I ended up likening the colour so much I decided I would do my whole head and have darker roots. The process. Always skin and stand test to insure it does not cause a reaction or cause damage to hair from a previously used product. Follow the instructions to the T, when you’re rinsing out the 1st bottle you hair will feel dry and damaged but do not worry! It has opened you hair to allow the remover to work. The buffer (bottle 2) is where the magic happens. Put on your hair and give a good scrub throughout all of your hair for 1min. Rinse and repeat, you can see your hair lighting as you use it! Then condition ! And you will notice how soft and silky it feels. Don’t expect miracles, you may get 2,3,4 levels lift but it depends on what colour you have in you hair previously and how much. It will do nothing to lightened hair or previous colour that has not been mixed with peroxide. I’ve read some reviews that states it does not lift out blue or ‘crazy’ colours, the product clearly states it will not lift these colours out. I was really surprised how much it worked. The 1st 3 pictures show the front piece I stripped against my old colour.

Great product . Got rid of the dye I hated.
At the start of the year I had blonde hair (which I’ve had for years). Then I decided to go a pinky/purple. Then back to blonde, then dark purple, followed by red. My hair was a mess but I didn’t care. I wasn’t going anywhere with this pandemic. I decided for the new year I need to sort my hair out and so after visiting numerous sites, reading numerous reviews I opted for this colour remover as it seemed to be the best (review wise). I got out all the bottles (all labelled by a different letter) of the box and the plastic gloves and read the instruction - which were pretty basic and lacking some information, such as how to mix the liquids. I presumed bottles A&B went together and then were shaken and applied to hair, like hair dye, but the instructions didn’t mention this so I found a video online which showed me. Yes they go together. I parted my hair (I naughtily didn’t do a strand or allergy test as I’ve been dyeing my hair for years and decided to take the risk) I then squirted on the remover. You have to make sure you completely saturate your hair in the product. So make sure you use the complete bottle. The smell is a bit like rotten eggs but not too overpowering. I opened the window before I started to make sure I didn’t stink the place out as I didn’t know how it would smell. Once all the remover was on I had to wrap my hair in cling film (make sure you have some before you begin) and then put a towel on top and set my alarm for 45 mins. Once the time is up you have to rinse you hair and this is the bit that is a pain. You have to rinse for at least 5 minutes to make sure all the colour is out. You then use half of bottle C and massage that into your hair and the rinse again for five minutes (after leaving it to sit for one minute). After the rinse you then add the other half of bottle C and do the same again. After you have rinse this time for five minutes you need to add bottle D, the conditioner, and leave it on for a minute and then rinse that for five minutes. I was fed up of all the rinsing. Especially as I was leaning over the bath and it was back breaking after a while. So be prepared for 20 mins minimum of rinsing your hair alone. This isn’t a quick process. There will be some eggy smell on your hair when you have completed the removing process. I’ve washed my hair once since and the smell is still there. My hair though is a great colour. It is back to being one colour and blonde again. I had bought a blonde dye in case my hair went orange but it was fine (apparently goes orange if you remove light colours). Overall I’m happy with the colour it left my hair. It was a little dry so I’ve used an intense conditioner since on it. A bit of a faff but worth it in the end. Just make sure you completely saturate your hair in the remover. Add the cling film and towel to heat your hair up and rinse thoroughly. Otherwise it won’t work as well. Also make sure to wear old clothes and cover surfaces.

Doesn’t work at all
I used this on my medium dyed brown hair that I’d dyed over top of blonde, which I instantly regretted. Whilst the remover was on my hair I was initially delighted as it looked bleach blonde again! When reading the instructions it stressed that you need to follow the rinsing instructions exact, or your hair will return to the colour you are trying to get rid of… well I even doubled the rinsing time recommended which it said to do for thicker hair, and a couple of hours after drying my hair, it has gone back to an orangey brown! I’m gutted. What a waste of time. Definitely don’t recommend

Very effective, hair intact
Used this product to get rid of years worth of dye build up, it was very effective. Hair was a dark reddish brown, not is a soft, light browny-blonde (intending to dye over the top). I bought two boxes and did do it twice just to get some more dye out but would have been happy enough to stop at one. The formula smells quite terrible (rotting eggs, I just threw my old towel away!), but I was prepared for this as it said so on the box. I doubt any colour remover would smell good. The best thing about it is it hasn't destroyed my hair. I have always been reluctant to do home hair colour removers because I've heard it can really damage and dry out hair, but it comes with a conditioner and doesn't contain any bleach or ammonia. I did it twice then washed and dried my hair afterwards with my normal shampoo and condition and my hair feels absolutely fine. Would certainly recommend. Edited to update: the horrid smell can linger for a long time, I tried baking soda and water on my hair, wrapped it in cling film for a couple of hours, then used a lot of shampoo and hair food conditioner. Smells fine now (I did the first lot two days ago)

Was not horrible. Was not amazing.
I read a TON of reviews before I decided on this product. I had a blue hair colour that had been reapplied a few times so I knew it was stuck in there. I applied exactly as the instructions stated, I personally did not think it smelled as bad as people say, it’s a chemical so it obviously won’t smell like organic roses. It is medium to watery in thickness, but stayed in my hair well. I personally don’t think it made a difference in the pigmentation at all, however blue is notoriously difficult to remove. I ended up purchasing professional bleach and doing a bleach rinse after, and that didn’t even take all the blue out. I finally returned to a “natural” colour by counteracting the blue with an orange shampoo.

Wow!! Stripped dark red hair dye out first time almost 100%
I doubted this would remove my dark red dye. Or did a better job than any salon could! I was shocked! I wanted to go back to blonde/pale pink after hating the deep dark red I put on a month earlier. I used 2 boxes as my hair is long and thick just to ensure I had lots of coverage. It removed 90% of the colour in one go! I found my dyed blonde again. The only bits left were some VERY light orange bits here and there. I know if I’d done another box I’d get those out but as I was putting on a blonde that lifts your colour 6 times lighter I didn’t need to. So I did the blonde with lightener (Schwarzkopf) which evened it out then a week later applied the pale pink I love. I love that this is not full of harsh chemicals and is cruelty-free. I can’t recommend enough! Red is very hard to get out of hair, especially when it’s “grabbed” onto bleach blonde. My advice is if you do it once and still have a little bit of colour just do a second go. My hairdresser said this couldn’t be done. That it would take months of waiting for my red to fade then a lot of bleach. Nope. In fact for many years I’ve found home dyes a million times better than salon. Highly recommended! I will use this again 100% if I need to take any colour out. Go for it!

It works!
This stuff…. It works! I have had every colour under the sun on my hair and recently a well branded super black and that stuff didn’t budge for anything except this. I have used well know colour removers in the past and they didnt even lift the black. This one done the job, got me back to a decent base colour, they always go ginger so don’t freak out, it’s not so bad being a ginge for a day or so. It will smell but a good shampoo gets it out. No breakage or damage. The shampoo and conditioner provided are really good. I’m ditching the other colour removers and going for this one next time I take a fancy dying my hair and changing my mind.

Hair colour remover
