I am a beekeeper and I do home brew too! This replaced the 2 separate refractometers I would use for the honey (very high SG) and the wort for the home brew ( low SG). It works for both.

I bought 2 refractometer, 1 for alcohol and other one for brewing, both of them have a very low accuracy on readings. In case of brewing, always the readings show low values, according that reading my beer should have around 1.5% ABV. I gave a sample to a friend that work in big brewing company and used an Anton Paar equipment and measure the ABV, the result was 3.05%. in case of alcohol refractometer i used a STD solution of ethyl alcohol at 95% and prepared a 70% solution, the refractometer show a reading around 55% (all of this after calibrate with distilled water at 20 °C as the manual say). dont buy this, is a waste of money!

I checked five stars for accuracy, but I have nothing to compare it to. It does include instructions for calibrating it using distilled water, and that was exactly accurate. Very simple to use. I'm glad I have it. Using for winemaking.
