So much information in a non overwhelming way. I couldn't put it down.
One of those "Wow" books that everyone must read. To be honest I bought it because I know that some of my children are right brained learners and I wanted strategies to help them with their education (we homeschool but any parent would benifit from this book) and I missed the small print that said it was geared towards children with ADD/ADHD. As it turns out my one child who I mainly bought the book to help doesn't have either. However, instead of returning the book, I've kept it, read it, highlighted & underlined it. I've learned so much amazing information about ADD/ADHD & I've thoroughly enjoyed the research shared on how &when the brain develops how it affects learning, behavior, etc... & so much more. It's not that I was unknowledgeable in these areas nor that all the information presented was new to me but that the facts and research are so clearly put. There was so much useful information even for someone who doesn't have a child with ADD/ADHD.This would be a great baby shower book to give to the expectant parents.

Right Brain Learner
After discovering my child learns with his Right Side of his Brain, I wanted something to help tutor him. This book is great. It starts with a description and understanding of how a Right Brain Learner see & hears what he is learning. It gives you test questions to determine whether or not your child really is a Right Brain Learner. It also gives you instructions on how to re-train your child the "right" way. It is a lot more work .. but the training works and works fast. I tells you how to tutor your child in Reading, Math and Writing. I also recommend: "The Right Side Of Learning" .. both books will get you started and help your child improve (with a little extra time and help from you). It all makes sense (my child is 8 yrs old) .. on past years of learning, personality and likes / dislikes .. how it is all related to being a right brain learner. I am very happy with this book.

Welcome to the ADD Individual's Mind
Since this was a first read on the subject of right and left brained thinking and the differences in learning methods, I found it fascinating. The authors constructed it logically enough for the layperson to get a grip on the various methods for visualization of material for reading, math, and writing. Also included are some proven techniques for the teacher. This is not the all inclusive volume for teachers but if you're looking for an introduction to understanding an individual with ADD, I found this book very informative.

So good
So good. Couldn't put it down. Kept saying yes yes yes all the way through it. Makes so much sense. A must read even when homeschooling.

I've never taken the time to write a review, but!
I downloaded this book yesterday and spent the whole day reading reading it. I am the mom of an 8 year old boy with ADHD and as a Social Worker I work with many ADD/ ODD/ and otherwise classified children. I have know my son was different and experiencing difficulties since he was a toddler. He is so bright, funny, loving and so emotionally attuned to my moods that I tell my husband he is an empath. Out of desperation, after much deliberation, he has been on Ritalin for a year at a very low dose and this has allowed him to remain in the same grade as his twin (very left-brained) sister. But I have so much insight now and can't wait to start applying the techniques. So many of the things I have observed and intuitively knew (oh found out I am very right brain too) about him, are explained in this book. And I see him in a POSITIVE light and have the vocabulary to share all the strengths I already knew was there. Get this book!

This is such a help for parents of right brained, visual thinking kids - many more these days with all the video tech we have.
Wow - if you have a child who is a visual thinker, this book will help so much to understand their strengths and their struggles. It will also help you have some tools to use with your child to help them navigate the left-brain world, and the left brained people they will need to work and live around. The tools/activities/methods suggested to help kids are focused a little more toward the younger set, but there are other sections that focus on the needs of older kids. This book was recommended to me by another mother of right brained kids and it was a really great recommendation for parenting, and helping to understand, my daughter.

Unsatisfied from intensive phonics intervention
My child is 5 yo right brained dyslexic, and after doing heavy phonics intervention myself for 9 months, my child is reading at age appropriate level. But I'm not satisfied, as I still see that decoding is all but natural. I'm interested in her developing her inherent talents, not in styfling it by unnaturally rewiring her brain, because this is what we do when we teach phonics. And Jeffrey presents some very practical ways to teach literacy harnessing their inherent visual spacial talents.Jeffrey's book presents some insight into the workings of right brain dominant, aka visual spacial, children. He presents some very practical visual approaches for teaching different subjects.

Awesome Book!!!!!!!
Using the ideas for teaching spelling and reading comprehension, I was able to increase my students ability to spell by almost 100%!It took just three tutoring sessions for him to lock into the visual "chunking" method of learning to spell a very long word. The ability to "make a movie in his head" had increased his comprehension skill considerably. We are going to continue to work on this skill in tutoring this summer, but I looks like he will be an independent reader in time for sixth grade.

Good to read if your child is s left handed writer
Interesting read. My son is left handed and learns in a different way to right handed children. Some useful information. I am now working on activities to help him learn his way at home rather than just the conventional school way. So far so good.

Great book
Jam packed full of common sense and well reasoned. I have tried the visual spelling strategies with yr6 and yr3 pupils and the results have been as the writer predicted. The writer gives a great deal of practical information that is particularly helpful.

I enjoyed reading this book
I enjoyed reading this book. I have a right brained son, he is clever but he is not a genius. He finds it hard adding up in his head however this book, like most right brained books state they find that easy. Have taken up some of the teaching ways, using colour and humour etc. All round its a good book if you are looking for some teaching tips and your kid is having difficulty at school.
