Works well for me!
I ordered this recorder so I could record a class in which the professor talks extremely fast. I try to sit near the front, and this recorder picks up her voice impressively well. I was worried about background noise, but this recorder does better than expected. The only thing I would do to improve this recorder is to have a way to put the class on to a computer so I could then put it on my mp3 player. But, maybe there is a way to do this, and I just haven't figured it out yet...Overall, I have been impressed and would recommend this recorder.

Olympus VN-7000 Digital VR
I had the VN-6000 version that I loved but lost a couple weeks ago. I am in sales so I always have ideas, or see a potential client i would like to contact while driving so instead of trying to right things down while driving. I just use my VR throught out the day and when I do my end of day wrap up I have all my notes right there. This is a great product and it is a big asset to me. Many different folders to record on and is very clear when played back.

Easy functions and plenty of storage.
This DVR is small, light and easy to operate. I get about two weeks of use from the batteries. Each of the four folders allows for 100 records. I use it mostly for short dictations and saving single records for extended review. Of all the dictation type DVRs I have owned, this is the only one I have purchased three times. The first one wore out after a few years and the later two I currently own and keep at different locations.

Okay, I Guess
The battery compartment door broke on my Olympus VN-4100, so I replaced it with this. Even though it looks almost the same, has the same controls, etc., this is nowhere near as good as the VN-4100. The VN-7000 distorts badly in the presence of background noise, e.g., when driving, and the buttons are so sensitive half the time I pick it up it's already recording. I could slide the hold switch to hold, but doing that once in each direction every time I want to record a memo is a bit ridiculous. Each generation of the Olympus product is a step down from the prior version: I liked the VN-900, replaced it with the bulkier VN-120, lost that and so got a VN-4100, and now the VN-7000. If Olympus cuts more corners with each revision, there's no point in ever buying another Olympus. Finally, the product description says nothing about a USB port, and there is none. Several reviewers have expressed dismay regarding this, suggesting that the product description should be clearer. Transferring to PC is not one of my requirements, but I do prefer clarity.

Bought for my mom
I bought this for my 91-year-old mother, who has macular degeneration and was complaining that she couldn't write notes to herself as reminders because she couldn't read them afterwards. She loves this recorder, which is why I gave it five stars (I haven't seen it, because I live far away). It's small, light, and easy to use. She carries it in her pocket so it will always be handy. She thinks it would be a great gift for anyone, whether they can see or not!

It Possibly Never Worked a few Minutes
The Recorder never work properly or Never Worked at all. I have about siz or seven of these recorder. I used this one months after I brought it. For some reason, I cannot seem to get the volume to go up nor can I get it to play. I recorder about 20 minutes a few days after I brought. After months I went back and tried to play it. It is not working. I am going to have too replace this and another I have lost. I wonder will seller take this back for refuburshing.

this isnt very good
i just receive this recorder over the weekend and after trying it out i hate to say this, this product isn't worth it i had some problems with it, for starters the volume control is lousy on the recording playback you really can't hear it unless it was by your ear i set the controls on mic HI and volume settings were set on 30 that's the highest it can go i wonder if anyone had the same experience with this recorder?. i don't recommend it. it's not worth it ty

A Must for Journalists
I'm a photojournalist, and I never head to an assignment without this recorder. I love the fact that it's easy to use, easy to stash in my pocket or camera bag and easy to keep track of story assignments with folders. Also, with the "hold" button on the side, I can leave my recorder on a podium or keep it in my hand while taking photos and not be afraid that I'll accidently stop recording or delete something.
