Figuring the Joy of Numbers

My parents bought me the first edition of this book back in the 70s after Shakuntala Devi appeared on the BBC's Blue Peter. I still must have it somewhere stored in a box. So after maybe 50 years, a successful career and two young kids I bought this reprint. It's as fresh as the day I first got my hands on it in the 70s. Delightfully written and a superb introduction to numbers for children and anyone else who is interested.

This was an updated purchase of an original copy I bought nearly 22 years ago when I was at school. I found that the content was excellent which is why I bough a new version for my daughter in a bid to help her understand tricks with numbers and to be able to work out multiplication tables easier than she was at the time. The book overall is excellent and I have never yet found a book to either equal it or even better it. Very interesting book. Not sure I fully understand it but fascinating subject.

A brilliant book which I first read over 30 years ago, and which is so well written and on such an interesting topic that I still think about it even now. It is a fabulous entry level book into the beauty of mathematics and the hidden patterns which readily reveal themselves within numbers. I eventually did a maths degree, and I can genuinely say that some of my love of maths stems from reading this book as a child. I have since bought numerous copies for other people (and their children).

This is just what ive been looking for,numbers made simple.I knew i could count on this book.I wish i add it earlier.
