trol-a-matic Features: -Made in the USA. Country of Manufacture: -United States. Review: Quality trolling plate, works great - Fit my 75 Yamaha 4 stroke perfect. All hardware there, installs fast and easy Review: Amazing - I have used other trolling plates and though they work ok they are a pain in the x. I thought there has got to be a better solution. I have a twenty foot pontoon with 75 hp mercury. It would only idle about 4 mph. Way to fast to troll. After reading all the reviews for this one. Some really like it some don't. So I took a chance and ordered it. After mounting it I can troll less than one mph. It doesn't interfere with backing ( I only back off the trailer or away from dock enough to turn around). It also makes it nice to be able to approach my trailer or dock nice and slow. I am soooo glad I purchased this unit. Advise, take your time mounting it follow the simple instructions. Make sure it is mounted square. I use C clamps to get everything line up perfect before I drilled, making sure that it would come all the way up . This is the best trolling plate ever and the price is in line or less than others that don't work nearly as well. Note. I can see that if you gun your engine backing up the plate could be pushed into the prop, so can other brands. That would be operator error.

Great invention!
After weighing the cost of a low horsepower kicker motor and the pain of having to remove it whenever we wanted to tube or wake board I decided to give the Trol-A-Matic a try. I'm very glad I did. I have an 18' Tahoe runabout and fish out of it whenever possible. I could rarely get the trolling speed down below 4mph with the main engine and only up to 2mph with the electric. I had to remove my Dole fin from the outdrive to install the Trol-A-Matic but that wasn't a big deal. I also have a river runner prop protector mounted on the skeg which didn't interfere. The Trol-A-Matic makes a nice stabilizer and even lets the outdrive run more even than the Dole fin did without porpoising, which actually added a couple mph to the boat. The trolling speed lowered to 1.5 and adjusted smoothly up from there. I wouldn't even know the thing was on there except for the lower trolling speed. Reverse feels the same without hesitation or even added rpm to compensate. As an added bonus, trailering the boat became a bit easier with the lower speed. No more popping it in and out of gear worrying I was going to hit the trailer too fast, it just putts on slow and smooth. Wonderful purchase, I'm telling everyone I know with a boat to get one!

Trola Trol-a-matic trolling plate
The secret to success is to follow the precise installation process. Met our expectations. The only minor objection would be that while making a turn you lose a bit of control. We would recommend this product!

I think it is a good product
I installed the first one behind a Chev 4.3 inboard. It was very easy to install, just 4- 1/4" holes to drill and 4 bolts and nuts to tighten and you are finished. We went fishing on a local reservoir. this plate slowed me to 1.2 mph. I was very happy about the speed. When it came time to re load the boat, I hit something in the water and destroyed the trolling plate and broke a part on the prop. I ended up re ordering the plate and had to have my prop repaired. I still don't know what I hit.

Simple to install, cheaper than a kicker motor
This is my second one. The first went with my old boat. The new owner was sold on it and didn't want to part with it. This one slowed a 18' Aluminum fishing boat from 3.5 mph to 1.8 mph based on a Garmin GPS. No issues in reverse.

Great product with easy install
Product arrived more quickly than expected. Easy install in 15 minutes. Reduced speed from 3.5 down to 1.8-2.0mph at idle. 2007 mercury 115 4s. Gets on plane more quickly and only lost 1mph on top end. Sturdy unit. No loss in control in either direction.
