Cost Effective & Functional--Actual Product Varies Slightly
I have had these for nearly 1 month now, and they are my first set of chaps so I cannot give a comparison to other products--just tell you about this one.Fitment: If you go by the sizing guide, it will fit as you expect, although the thigh might feel a little big.Manufacturer's label: Sewn on the inside of the waist is a manufacturer's patch labeled, "Nomad USA"Made: Below the manufacturer's patch is a tag labeled, "Made in Pakistan" that also has the letter designator for size.Leather quality: I'm not an expert on leather, but I'd guess middle of the road. It came incredibly stiff. After oiling up with olive oil and breaking it in during my daily commuting they became reasonably comfortable. I measured its thickness at the end of the leg using a digital micrometer in various places and found it to range anywhere from 1.0mm-1.5mm. After a little research online, more expensive higher quality chaps are in the 1.5mm-2.0mm range.Hardware quality: The zippers are indeed YKK and the snaps & eyelets all appear to be sturdy and of decent quality.Seems: The seems feel reasonably sturdy but I cannot attest to their longevity after only 1 month.Differences:1. The picture example of the product appears very supple and looks to fall comfortably on the body, but I found them to be incredibly stiff. Even if able to achieve reasonable comfort after break in, I felt it does not quite give an accurate visual representation of the product. The leather in the picture misleadingly appears to be better quality.2. The little pocket on the left thigh has a velcro closure flap.3. The leather for the legs are a straight cut all the way down to the ankle. In the picture, one side where the snaps are appears to come out and extend past the zipper--it does not.4. The liner in the picture appears to be all the same material (nylon maybe?). There is some nylon in small quantity in the lining, but the majority of it that encompasses the thigh area is a cheap mesh (think old school gym shorts).Overall I rate it 4 stars for product value to price. Had the actual product more closely matched the modeled product I would have given it five stars for delivering exactly what is expected. These are purely cost effective and functional, do not expect them to be exemplary. I do recommend this product if you're looking for value bargain chaps even though I felt they under-delivered with respect to the chap's lining being mesh vs entirely out of the more durable nylon material used throughout the modeled pictures.

Great quality. Thick leather.
These chaps work great. I've had them for years and they show no signs of wear.

A good product if it fits
The chaps reviewed here are the XXXL size.I ordered these chaps hoping they would fit. Being a large and short individual, it takes a lot of dead cow skin to cover my frame. The waist is fine. Plenty of room on the belt and it has a laced and grommets on the back.Around the thigh, nope. Oh well. Will make an awesome Christmas present for someone.Anyway. The leather is pretty good stuff. It's not so thick as to be stiff and not so thin as to be useless. It's dyed black. Each leg is made of several large pieces of leather. The front is two pieces with the seam about knee level for a person of average height. The seam is double-stitched.The outside is s seriously large metal YKK zipper. This is good. The metal should hold up for years and withstand plenty of abuse. It zips from the top down to close, which is the way it should be. The leather covering the zipper is folded over and stitched once at the fold and once where it lays back against the inside of the leg. The bottom is four snap rivets. The back of the leg is three pieces. The back piece running party way t to the expansion grommets and extends partly down the leg. This means the high-stress sections are all one piece of leather for durability. Double seams each time. The bottom is unstitched, cut leather. At first, this bothered me. Now, it does not. Leaving the bottom loose means it is much easier to trim and hem the chaps to fit the rider. A visit to a leather shop and a few minutes and the chaps fit your leg length properly. I'd much rather have this than buy pre-sewn cuffs that are too short or too long. The back strap is doubled over and single stitched top and bottom. At the seams of joined pieces, it is double stitched. There is a Velcro-seal pocket on the left leg. Big enough for holding your keys but not else.Seams are glued as well as stitched. The glue is probably there to hold the edges together long enough for the sewing. It is not a strong glue.On the inside, a nylon web is stitched into the upper part of each leg. It's free hanging at the bottom. This does make it easier to put the chaps on over pants.Just wish the thigh was big enough for my legs.

5'10" 205 lb review of XXL
5'10" 205 lb review of XXL...needless to say I intentionally oversized. The XXL comes with 42" waist MINIMUM and easily adjustable for anything larger. I am a 38" waist so it is too large. That being said the belt has plenty room for an extra grommet to be added if you are capable which could reduce the waist to a 36" easily and look like it was made to do so. The leg circumference room for 26" at the top of the thigh, 18" at the ankle, even decline from top to bottom. For me a 23.5" thigh wearing a base layer pant and a regular jean the amount of room in the leg is way excessive. I strongly recommend that you measure your leg without a pant on, add an inch, and use that for the sizing chat. The length of these can be cut, but I found the length to be good when in a crotch rocket riding position with boots. I will end up buying a size smaller and keeping these ones. The zippers are extra heavy duty so props on that. The leather is definitely Top Grain as advertised with a fair thickness. They will hold up in a slide good, but just a tad thin for my taste. I would prefer full grain and sad to see nobody offer a quality full grain chap. Since the size I ordered is too wide in the leg I find that if I turn each pant leg as much behind me the excess material finds a nice aerodynamic position that stays tight to my leg. Bonus details: I rode with them this morning in 35 degree temp with a warm'r pant and a FR carhart pant. I found that they can handle cold temp pretty good but still let in a fair amount of air in from the sides near the zippers, which was my main reason for buying them, so great to find out. Seem like they will be great for summer riding and airflow. I use other gear for cold.
