I recently ran into an issue with a USB Cable that I had never seen before. USB cables that charge a device may not transfer data, however, USB cable that transfer data can charge.....got that? I had a computer, Raspberry PI, that I could not get to work with a device with a normal USB cable. I tried many different cables and had no luck. I called the manufacture and they asked if I was using a regular cable or a data transfer cable? They said a cable specifically used to transfer data had to be used or it wouldn't work. I ordered this and it worked perfectly. Problem solved. The cable is lightweight, USB C connection, and is made of braided material so it will last. It transfers date very fast. I guess this may be common knowledge among the Tech world, but it was news to me.

I have several of those old external spinning disk hard drives, virtually all of which support micro-B 3.0, and of course they all have separate power supplies that plug into A/C power. Since they're trapped within range of a wall outlet or power strip, it's great to have a long-ish cable to connect to them and gain a little more range. I picked up the 10-foot, which reaches anywhere I would be able to set up one of the drives. This cable has a fairly thick silicone jacket that feels almost more like a typical ethernet cable. I have no doubt that it's durable and should be able to stand up to some abuse, but that does mean it's also a bit less flexible than many USB cables. The aluminum cable pulls on each end of the cable are also made to be pretty sturdy, and they're just slightly longer than the average cable I've come across, so they're pretty easy to operate. Although, between the longer pulls and the less flexible cable, this cable won't be ideal if you need it to fit snugly against a wall. As for performance, I'm confident that none of the drives I'm testing with are remotely capable of maxing out USB 3.0 speeds, but they're all running perfectly over this cable with no corruption or connection issues, and seemingly at their best speeds. Outside of probably preferring a braided nylon jacket, I can't think of anything I would change. This cable is perfect for what it's supposed to be. It's hard to judge if the current $14 price is high or low for a cable with a dying standard — USB-C is nearly ubiquitous now — but I think it's a perfectly justified price given the quality of the cable. I doubt I'll need to buy another, because this cable should easily outlast any of these drives, but I would certainly say I'd choose this one again for the cable that will see them to their final days.

Works well and strong build.

This is a great upgraded cable for small external drives. All of my portable external HDDs came with those tiny 8-12 inch cables—which are basically useless unless your drive is sitting right on top of your laptop. Build Quality: This 5-foot cable is well-constructed with metal-sleeved connectors and heavy cabling. It feels durable but remains flexible enough to route behind a desk. The reinforcement at the ends is a nice touch; it feels like it will hold up to being plugged and unplugged frequently. Performance & Fit: The connection is nice and snug—it clicks firmly into the drive and doesn't wiggle or drop the connection if the drive gets moved slightly on the desk. Performance-wise, it maxes out the drive's transfer speeds. I’ve tested it against my high-quality USB-C to Micro-B cables and the data rates are identical, so there is no signal loss despite the extra length.

This cable works well and performs to the standards it is supposed to. Very well built, good strain reliefs, cable material and connectors. Fits snugly/correctly on both ends. The cable is flexible and supple, normal thickness. The real question is - why do you need a A -> Micro-B cable this long? It allows for some clever hiding of noisy external spinning hard drives, in my case. Works well.

I bought this cable to replace the OEM one that came with my older Seagate hard drive, that was just a tad too short to reach where it needed to. The cable feels extremely hefty and well built. Connecting the (magnetic) hard drive to my laptop with this new cable, I got max read rates of 130-200 MBps, which is pretty much the limits of what the drive is able to pump out. If I had to nitpick about anything, it’d be that the cable is actually only 59.5” long, measured from the outer tips of both connectors; a half inch short of the advertised 5 ft length. I’m guessing they built to the 1.5 M (59.06”) spec instead, so if you REALLY need the full 5 feet you’ll want to buy the next size up. (IMHO stated cable lengths should only include the flexible cable portion, not the hard connector ends, anyway.) Overall I am quite happy with this cable, and consider it a good buy.
