Why so much for one pound, when i can get 3 pounds for less than twice the money at BJ's?

My father raises cattle in eastern Colorado that are free to graze in a large open field and are not treated with antibiotics.  The amount of money he spends on these cattle as is quite high.  If you want beef that came from a cow raised in an open field that eats grass and that has never been injected with hormones and antibiotics, you are going to pay a premium price.  If you buy beef that came from a feed lot (cows packed into a feed yard) that are fed corn and pumped full of hormones and and antibiotics, you will pay less. You will pay less when different parts of multiple different cows are ground up, packed together, and sold at a large store.  Luckily, we live in a country where you have a choice to spend your money however you like.  If you find Verde farms beef too expensive, then don’t buy it.  Go to BJs and buy feed lot beef.  This is the same concept as buying a shirt for $5 at Walmart that was made in a factory in China, or paying $50 for a shirt that was made by a small buisness operating in America.  If you want quality, you have to pay for it.

If you carefully read the marketer’s description above, the “beef” is both grass-fed and grass-finished.

Someone is saying it is raised in Colorado, but it is also said Uruguay. So who's saying the truth here?

If you carefully read the marketer’s description above, the cattle are raised in Uruguay.   This may concern some folks as to the topic of deforestation as a direct result of the higher demand of beef.   However, there is no indication that this particular area was subject to these practices or if the land used was previously open land with little or no trees, especially old growth.   As conscientious consumers, all we can do is make a decent effort to determine the qualities and history of the products we purchase.   Since regulations are few and regulators fewer still, whether faith or wishful thinking, we can only make a considered choice based on the data presented.
