This leather is smooth and has a waxy feel to it!
I think it has a diameter of 3mm. The size of pandora beads. It is sturdy and the black is a nice color black. I can’t wait to get the right sterling clasps! They would look so good plain without any beads too!

Excellent quality!
I purchased this is both white and black 1.5mm. The quality is excellent and exceeded my expectations. It is very soft and easy to work with. I use it to make bracelets, so I need to be able to knot and braid it. I have had no trouble with the coat cracking. Also, please keep in mind that the 1.5 diameter is very small so if you pull hard enough, it is going to snap. Normal wear will never pull that hard. I had to really pull hard and even then, it was very difficult to get it to snap. If someone is that hard on their jewelry, they are going to have problems no matter what it is. Also, all of the leather cord I have purchased from this seller has never had anything more than a faint smell of leather, I expect that and even want it. I’m glad I found this and will continue to buy it.Tip: when tying knots, it’s best to work it instead of pulling it. Pulling it will weaken it and can damage the coating. Hope this helps 😊

Decent quality
This seems to be a nice quality leather. The natural color has a nice leather smell to it and is soft and flexible. I use this for necklaces.

Snaps very easily, not good for braiding/knot work/ plaiting
I enclosed some pictures of what happens when the leather is plaited/braided - please excuse my technique I am still learning but I hope this helps show the issue with the leather snapping or stretching or the dye cracking. Its a great leather for a simple necklace or triple wrapped bracelet, not great for simple braiding, leather plaiting, or knot work. This leather snaps easily and stretches out very easily so when you complete the braid it shows that the leather was stressed and the dye started to crack. I really wanted to work on my leather plaiting/braiding/knots for dog collars and leashes and I figured this was not the best quality, but it was cost effective to work on technique before I purchase more expensive materials. I could not even work on my technique because the leather cannot hold tension, light tension like to get a nice tight braid. I would not recommend this for braiding/plaiting/knot work for practice or a finished product it just is not a good quality product that you can get nice tight work with, it snaps or the dye cracks and looks horrible. I would return it if I could. On the plus side if you work with animals like Horses and worry about jewelry like a necklace or bracelet getting caught on the equipment or an animal grabbing it and pulling, this would snap very easily and I bet it would snap so easily that if you wanted to wear a bracelet or necklace it would be mostly safe due to the low stress snapping issue. Open Outside!
I'd been paying $15 for a 3.5' leather cord at a local jewelry store, so when I saw the price on this, I figured it would be worth a try. Overall - it was. It worked well for our purposes - to hang pendants - and the color is very pretty. I knotted my Mom's and glued end caps to mine and didn't have any trouble doing either one. It cuts easily with decent quality scissors. That said - if you order this, do yourself a favor and as soon as the box arrives, take it outside or to the garage and open it there. I didn't do that, and it stunk up half of a 3300 sq ft house - the overwhelming chemical smell is THAT BAD. I'm not sure if it's the dye, or the plastic bag, or the combination of the two, but it is truly awful. Especially if you have breathing issues like I do, you should not be around the cord for at least 24 hours. I exiled it in the garage for 24 hours - took it out of the bag and unwound it a bit to really air it out - and that pretty much resolved it (although now the garage stinks, too). I also wish it were 2mm instead of 1.5mm - it's a small difference, but I think that size would work better with the types of items most likely to be hung on a leather cord.UPDATE: Since I figured out how to solve the odor problem, I ordered several additional colors, which to my surprise did not smell at all. So I'm not sure if it's just the purple color that smells, or the company has read the reviews and fixed the problem, but I didn't have the same problem with them. However, I'd still recommend opening them in a well ventilated area just in case.

Love the color
Beautiful color, but I wish this was offered in longer length/a more economically priced roll
