It’s an old iPad
I am reviewing the refurbished iPad mini gen 4. It is an older iPad and doesn’t update anymore. I knew this going in. Before getting any device know what you want it to do. I have 5 iPads. They each have different jobs.My iPad from 2012. Was my first step back into Apple. It updates to iOS 10. It lets me look up pdf while DMing different RPG games and running RPG apps. It also gives me access to older apps that didn’t make the test of time.My gen 6 iPad stopped updating at iOS 17. It is joining my 2012 iPad as a gaming iPad. It hold characters and other RPG stuff. My generation 2 iPad Pro. It stopped at iOS 18. This is my work iPad. It holds my music apps and everything I need for preforming and practice. It also runs as my art tablet for making maps for role playing games. My iPad Air 2024. I got this, so my blind sister can borrow it to run things for her vision apps and her work stuff. It will replace the pro when my sister can afford one of her own. It will run updates for years. I just wanted to make sure she has all the updates for her vision assistance apps. Now for this iPad. The mini gen 4. It updated to iOS 15. It does not support any further updates. Why do I have it? Phone support! That’s it. The thing will play board game apps and run videos. I can pull it out when waiting on things. I didn’t want to buy a mini and a new air felt like a waste of cash. This was ment to offset my phone use during down time. I don’t like sitting in one spot and that makes charging a pain. When I go out I don’t want cables and batteries. That is why I got this refurbished iPad. It takes some of the work off my phone, so I don’t leave the house with minimal battery. It is slow, but not my slowest iPad. It is not great for everything, but for a note taker and a ebook reader it does the job in spades. I can fit it in my carry bag and it does what I want.Would it be my best iPad? No! It is outdated and slow. Should you get this iPad? Depends on what you want it for. This screen is not big enough for college. If buying for a laptop alternative get a pro 4+. I would not recommend the three it is next on the update chopping block as of 2024. Will it work for kids? Probably if they don’t want to run any heavier iPad games on it. I tried the PS+ app and it struggles. This works great as a cheap carry around iPad. It will play light games and read pdf files like a charm. I got it for a book reader and light app player on a smaller screen. I am sure a newer mini will do better, but an older would do worse. It is outdated and a bit small for a workhorse, but the hardest thing I make it do is run a tuner app and watch YouTube videos, so it is more than enough for that.

I will be RETURNING this product . . . buyer BEWARE!!!
The media could not be loaded. Several problems with this product . . .1) battery issues2) random shutdowns & restarts3) more cosmetic damage than expectedNow to go into more detail for you . . . I have other iPads and I have never seen any of them do what this one does . . . In the video I posted it shows the battery charge is at 12%, the device then randomly shuts off and when I go to turn it back on it shows the battery dead symbol (I also tested this at 95% battery and it still does the same thing) . . . after pressing the power button a second time it starts to load up . . . when it comes back on it shows the battery is at 17% and then the screen randomly goes black then comes back on at 12%, the second time I noticed this I did not get on video but the tablet was at 95% charge, it randomly shut down, showed the battery dead symbol and was at 82% when it came back onI have also included pictures of some of the cosmetic damage . . . the back of the iPad reminds me of Frankenstein because it has a white section in the top that I have not seen on any other apple tablet and looks like they took multiple tablets and pieced them together to create a tablet (I could be wrong, it is just odd for an apple product) . . . there are quite a bit of minor nicks on the back which I could live with however the screen has at least a dozen hairline scratches (some small and some larger) but it was difficult to get pictures of the scratches since they are not cracks yet . . . purchase at your own risk!!! I will be returning this and looking into alternate buying options.

iPAD With SIM For Cellular Data Cannot Work As a Phone !!
Was disappointed to learn by research after receiving it that an iPAD with a SIM for cellular service can not work as a "phone" without a wifi sync to a iPHONE that is making the voice call !!! Made a dumb assumption that data service to a cellular service might allow phone calls!!!!!Device looked good as slightly used and had the normal set of apps installed.Needed to return it because needed to replace an iPHONE SE whose display and virtual keys are too small for my wife's finger dexterity.

Don’t waste your money
I was honestly dumb thinking of getting the iPad mini 4 when I could’ve gotten a more updated one. Nothing really wrong with iPad although the battery does die fast even though I’m not even on the iPad sadly the iPad mini 4 doesn’t work with an Apple Pencil. I got the iPad for school to help take notes but can’t use a pencil with it. If you want a older iPad I would get it but definitely returning it and getting a better quality one.

Love it
This ipad is awesome. I did have to send the first one back due to battery dropping as soon as I started using it and it was over heating. But the replacement battery lasts very good I brought it for my 2 year old son to watch YouTube and he loves it :)

FAILED @ 4months!
Item worked well for 4 months, then started shutting down when battery fully charged. Upon restart, baterry condition suddenly 'RED' as if no charge? Ipad did this about five times & would charge again. Then about the fifth time, FAILED completely and would not work at all any longer. Even if plugged in. VERY disappointing! I know it was 'renewed', but for $140 you would expect it to work for at least a year or more right?
