Cole Haan Men's Muir Moc-tall

Cole Haan knows their wheelhouse and executes marvelously. The brand's shoes are stylish, but never at the cost of comfort. If sacrifices are made, it will usually fall on the shoulders of fashion, not ease of wear. I love these boots. They come as as described in the product description, with the exception of the lighter color of the leather in the actual product. The charcoal/ash is my favorite color, and it is almost a Confederate grey. I have two in brown (cheap when they went on sale) that also appear to be lighter out of the box. Quality boots usually have a break-in period. These don't, surprisingly. They are absolutely comfortable right out of the box. No hotspots, and no blisters after a full day walking around in them the first time you lace up. Might be a good choice if you need a fresh pair of casual boots just before a trip. They are water resistant. I see water bead up on the instep upper. I hope there is more than just a layer of chemical spray to keep the water off. I guess I will find out when I wear them in proper rain. The suede leather is smooth and defect-free. So much so that I wonder if generous amounts of synthetic materials are used. They wear and look fine, so not a problem for me. The laces are definitely synthetic leather. It actually works better than genuine leather laces. They look better and they will not shred and fray like leather laces. Hopefully, they will not degrade or break in high summer heat or cold winter weather.

Comfortable and a great fit

I am a shoe guy and usually not a retail store buyer. That said I have several older Cole Haan shoes that still wear very well. I liked this boot over 2nd choice, the LL Bean Moc, it was cheaper by $10 but CH won out. Only wish the toebox was slightly narrower for a sleeker look. Fit is true, width standard, as we all know this boot would have been $50 bucks less just a few years ago. Made in India, typical painted leather but so far a very comfortable boot. You might find an Allen Edmonds sale for a similar Moc toe but likely more $$$ but a better boot for it. All in all, a solid boot and happy buyer. Star lost for cost and could have better styling fit, in my opinion only.
