Important note: This is only good for softer steels like Stainless Steel. I have a tougher CrMoV X50 Sabatier knife which is harder than this rod and won't sharpen! Otherwise it's a great honing rod.Still sharpens knives very well after more than a year, still magnetises well and easy to use and clean. Handle is very solid and whole unit feels well made. Highly recommended.

Much larger than expected - certainly effective however. Easy to use, and impressed with the sharpening with little effort.

This is actually not as refined as its supposed to be. It's more like the picture of the 'competitors'. The surface finish is inconsistent and rough.I've found this makes the knife edge inconsistent and in places slightly rough.I was 'granted' a refund by the seller but this would cost about £5 to return an £8 item.I say spend a little more on a recognised brand.
