ADVANCED COMPUTER SCIENCE FOR THE IB DIPLOMA PROGRAM INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

If you are taking higher level this book won't help at all. Chapters 2 & 3 are so lacking in depth that you have no chance on paper 3 if you used this resource. half the book is the printout code of the book itself (page filler)! And the price they want to charge is insane, not worth the money.

I read through some of the topics on Chapter 5: Abstract Data Structures and found that the concepts are clearly presented. It is suitable for IB Diploma actually. It also give a very good example of object-oriented programming using Java. However, I find that source code from page 184 onward could be stored in github or gitlab. The source code is printed in landscape format which is hard to browse and the book is really heavy.

This book will not help you much with your IB. I couldn't even understand some of it and I'm doing higher level. They made up questions for the first chapter and coded them with hardly any explanation and the last half of the book is a huge multi page answer of code (many pages!) The authors, if they are IB teachers, don't seem to understand what the student needs, which is lots of simple step by step explanations.I gave 2 star because there are some things in chapters 2 & 3 that are useful. As I complete the IB maybe it will be clearer if the book helps, but not right now in my 1st year I can't recommend it.
