We always hang them near a light, usually a low wattage fluorescent light, to attract the most bugs. Everything that lands on them sticks: flies, moths, mosquitos etc. They work so well that we go through about 8 a year in our garage. We don't hang them outside though I'm going to try that next year.Note to those who commented that they trap wasps: stop putting wasp traps in your yard. Since we stopped putting wasp traps in our yard, we don't have any wasps. When we used the wasp traps, we would have 10-20 nests a year that we had to remove; now we have none. There is an occasional wasp in the yard (we have 2 acres of flowers that they love, mostly alfalfa) but no longer do they nest here.They are hard to find locally and then usually only the small 9" model, glad that Amazon is carrying them.What could Amazon do better? If they sold them in a case lot (even if the same price), they could ship them in the original box and save waste.

These work every time you hang them in an area when flies and wasps are present.

The box it was shipped in was mashed, sticking the very sticky bar to the packaging. Very messy to get loose and bent the insect bar. I love the product, just not the packaging.

We’ve tried a few sticky fly traps and this is my favorite. It attracts all kinds of flies, hornets, and wasps, and no one has been stung around my house (and we have a lot of them of many different species).

Just threw away several after fly season is over. The strips were absolutely full of insects. Gross but wonderful.

I live in a swampy area and have a lot of flies, even in the "winter" (all two weeks of it here) and so I got this thing to help combat them. I guess I should have realized that putting this outside wouldn't work, as the product warns that not only does it catch flies, but butterflies and other small creatures, even hummingbirds, can get caught on it. Ok, duh...I should have known that before ordering it. So I decide to put it up indoors to get the flies that make it into the house while not risking my butterflies, dragonflies, and hummingbirds. I put it up in the doorway, which is one of the high-traffic areas for flies in the house. Getting it out of the box and hanging it up was a feat in and of itself, as it kept sticking to the box, the wall, and me. This was encouraging, though, as I thought it would really work well. Several days later not one fly has landed on it even though quite a few have made themselves comfy here. I moved the stick to the living room,where the flies migrated to, and hung it up close to a floor light thinking the light would draw them to the bright orange of the stick. Nope. This thing just doesn't work. I honestly can't figure out why...it seems like it should, but it just doesn't :o/

Has cut the pest coming into my house by 90%! (I have it hanging by the back door) I think when the bugs see their friends hanging around they stop to say "hi" and don't leave! Great product.
