How long does the smell last in the acorn?

I bought it as a gift, she put it in her car over a month ago and she's surprised that is still is smelling

When using this acorn diffuser in the car, do you dilute the essential oil with water as in a home diffuser or just use the straight essential oil?

I’ve used straight essential oil without dilution. But if you find some essential oils to be to strong for example, peppermint, then diluting would be a good idea.
