As long as the plastic container is microwave safe, has a flat bottom and a lid you are good to go.

Question 2

Can this be used to store towels to use for massage that is done in someone’s home?  Even if I would preheat the towels then place them in there.

The mini is about the size of a Lean Cuisine, so it would only hold a couple of hands towels. It heats food to 165 degrees so the towels sold be pretty hot. Hope this helps!

If you buy the car adapter does the car need to be on for it to heat?

A 12-volt 300 watt inverter model is enough to power the HotLogic device through one of the car power plugs, and the engine doesn't need to be running.  However, the downside is that your frozen meal still takes about 90 min. to heat and that produces a drain on the car battery.  With bigger batteries and daily engine operation, this probably isn't an issue, but smaller ones is questionable.  The thing to do is heat the meal in transit if possible; then unplug the inverter when the car is off.  These are power management issues and they vary by vehicle, but heating the meal in transit is a safe bet.  Another way is to buy a 'portable backup power' unit like a Powerpack 600 (www.xantrex.com), which has a built-in inverter and 'wall plugs' for your 120 volt device; BUT it also has a 12 volt accessory cable and can charge from the car while you drive, store power, and deliver 120 volt power to your laptop or HotLogic or other low wattage electronics.  This way you can cook your meal when the car is off, and not run down the car battery.

It's just a lunch box with a hot plate in it. Yes at Walmart or wherever you please. I believe glass Tupperware is better.
