Spyderco Caribbean Folding Pocket Knife, PlainEdge

I have to admit the color and look made me pass up the Caribbean for other Spyderco models. I then decided to just give this a try. This is one of those knives that totally exceeded my expectations. First it's a big knife but it feels great in hand. For the size it's a pretty light knife. The fit and finish excellent which is Spyderco quality and expected. Second the color is another great feature. It's not too bright that it will blind you, but it is eye catching. You will not lose or misplace this knife if you are hiking, camping, or at the beach. Third the steel is LC200N which will not rust. That's right you can clean out a fish and clean the knife in the ocean without worrying bout the knife rusting. This is quickly becoming my favorite knife to carry every day. Finally opening and closing action is buttery smooth. Check out the video to see it in action.

I haven’t got a chance to test it out of doors, but I sure like the solid feel in my hand. It is very sharp and has excellent action. This knife will be my companion from now on.

Hardware is coated black now for extra corrosion resistance and I love it. This is the knife that will last a lifetime. Not made to be abused. Normal use under corrosive environment is where this knife will shine. Feels light and a good sturdy grip. Easy to make very sharp and keep a nice edge for a long time. Fits in pocket out completely of the way for shorts and for pants getting your hand through is easy enough not to bother me. The blade shape and grind are at another level. The lockup is perfect. 10/10 would buy again!!

For a year I carried the Caribbean almost every day except for leaving it the shower for a month. I disassembled it cleaned the residue and found no rust. It's preformed excellent at work doing construction. Edge retention is decent but the edges angle is a bit steep.. the scales texture is pretty aggressive but at the same time it hasn't slipped from my pocket or grip.. I'm not keen on the warranty but it's paid for itself by now.. excellent knife

Exceptional design, material selection, fit and finish! I would have never thought that the brilliant engineers at Spyderco could ever exceed the outstanding attributes already found in the Paramilitary 2, Sage 5 and Manix 2 blades - but they did! The design, function and beauty of the Caribbean should represent the new benchmark for all of these customer desired features. Also, their Taichung, Taiwan plant seems to ALWAYS deliver knives which scream ‘world class quality’!! Because I expect perfect knives (not someone else’s return), I have always selected Onkata to deliver my blades because they’re always impeccably packaged and in pristine condition. The folks at Onkata are customer focused and never disappoint. ONLY order from Onkata!!

BLADE: is LC200N, a breakthrough steel which is rust proof, even in and around salt water! This steel does not chip. It takes a very sharp edge and holds it a long time. The leaf shape and full flat grind of the blade allows for fine tip work or efficient slicing. I like it that the edge extends all the way to the handle with no choil. HANDLE: consists of two slabs of G10 with skeletonized LC200N stainless steel inserts. Two robust standoffs and a tube for the lanyard hole make for strong construction. The open back allows for easy cleaning. I didn't like the yellow and black stripes so I dyed the knife with graphite color Rit dye for synthetics. The new color seems permanent. LOCK: The compression lock allows for closing the knife without placing one's hand in the path of the blade. It is also far less likely to disengage while twisting the knife ... For instance to make a hole in leather. ERGONOMICS: Very comfortable in hand. Unlikely to slip out. The unique, deep grooves in the handle slabs add greatly to a secure grip. CLIP: The sandblasted, titanium clip is unobtrusive, with folder in pocket, and grips securely but not too tight.

Open and close action is great. Easy one hand open. Arrived very sharp. Quality steel and workmanship. As large as it needs to be — large for a pocket knife, but still easy to carry.

Spyderco knives designed for marine environments are, in my experience, THE ONLY TRULY STAINLESS knives available. I love the Salt Series, and I love this knife too. But I don't care for the compression lock. I think its dangerous. I far prefer the back lock on the Salt Series.

Brilliant knife, great for kayak fishing or general use around salt. Lc200n holds an edge much better than H1. The nestled liners make this knife very well designed. Taichung factory finishing is outstanding as usual. Sals best design ever. Thanks again Spyderco and thanks Amazon for the great price.
