Awfully dainty
Only had it 24 hours but I think I like it. Honestly, I'm a CS guy and my first impression of this knife was 'I'll break it for sure'. It is lightweight as the name suggests. It weighed in at 82-83g's, pretty light. It is 3.5mm thick and the blade is just over 3 inches. The blades width is 1.25 inches at the thickest part. I like to fidget so this lock is great for me. The blade locks up nice and folds down smoothly. Not so sure about the value for money. Quality feel to this knife, no wiggle. The belt clip is great, I love the wire clip. I even like the translucent blue.

Great Value And A Lightweight Spyderco Legend
I like this lightweight Manix 2 knife much more than I expected. The locking mechanism is fun to fiddle with and is extremely strong; and the large leaf blade is pretty much the exact same length as the PM2 - and it seems very close to the same thickness too. Out of the box, this knife was wicked sharp and perfectly centered, and the action opens easily and drop-closes exactly like a well-adjusted knife should. I assume it has dual washers. The handle has a nice surface texture and a great wire clip, but it is not particularly comfortable to hold and use for lengthy sessions. Unfortunately the edges are squared off like on a G2 PM2 with no added contours or more radius-ed edges like on the PM3 lightweight. Much of the genius of the Manix is in the handle profile and the integrated choils that extend onto the blade for multiple grip positions. I understand now why for many Spyder people, this is their favorite knife. The only things that keep it from being a perfect EDC is the small-radiused handle and the fact that the locking action requires a spring loaded button that can clog with dirt and potentially jam or break. For the money, this lightweight knife, especially in SPY27 or even the slightly more expensive MagnaCut, is a great value and an extremely well-designed and useful folding knife. A Spyderco legend!

Light and still durable
I own a Manix 2 with the G10 scales and steel liners and S30V steel blade. This new lightweight version has the BD-1 steel. While not as desirable and 'high end' as the powdered-type S30V, I have put the BD-1 through a few tough cutting tasks, and it has held its edge well. Not as well as the S30V, but still pretty well--and it's easy to sharpen; a few strokes through the ceramic rods and it's sheened right up again. This knife is almost incredibly light, compared to the 'regular' version. The grip is fantastic; much better than even the G10 version...I knew it would be, because I have the same composite sides (scales, handles) on my Spyderco Salt-1. Do the handles have a little give to them if you really twist on them? Yes. Is it excessive or even enough to give me safety or durability concerns? No. This thing is still tough as nails. And so light you forget it's in your pocket. Unreal. I can carry this with dress slacks, it's THAT light. And by the way, they ought to use this clip on all of their knives. Best ever. Firm grip without being pocket-shredding. It has the same caged ball bearing locking system as the G10 version. Great system. Solid, confidence-inspiring, safe, and easy to operate. One of my favorite systems. Highly recommended. Oh, and the deep blue transluscent look is pretty cool. Very understated.

Great!
I am very pleased with this knife. - The handle is wonderfully ergonomic, and the texture is grippy without being abrasive to hands or pockets. - The blade is "centered" in the handle when the knife is closed (a mark of manufacturing quality) - Feels like one solid piece when locked open - The edge is hair-shaving sharp - The lock is not "sticky" and disengages smoothly and easily My criticisms: - The edge bevel is not even (one side is slightly steeper). - The seams between the FRCP handle pieces are visible and slightly uneven* * I think this might have some effect on how weather-proof the knife is, as one seam has a slight gap a little narrower than a sheet of paper but still large enough to see and ultimately hold moisture and fine debris like dust and lint. This appears to be the result of a slight imperfection in the handle scale's molding. - - - The rest of this review is an opinion piece about the brand / blade steel. Magnacut steel is the hot new thing and a lot of manufacturers are rushing to get their knives to market, but, honestly, I don't trust them to get the heat treatment right. Heat treatment has a dramatic impact on how the blade performs. Despite this, many larger knife companies (looking at you, Benchmade, CRKT, and Lionsteel) historically have sub-standard "soft" heat treatments, which largely negates the point of using - and paying for - a "super steel" like Magnacut. Spyderco is one of only a handful of companies I trust to do it "right" and independent HRC testing data consistently validates this notion. Basically, if you're buying a knife for the properties of the blade steel, buy Spyderco first (2nd place going to Hogue, Kershaw is 3rd)
