962 - Wood Box Newel - Plain Style - 48 inch - Sleek Minimalist Design - Staircase Post (Red Oak)

Wood on the newel is excellent. It is heavier, studier, and more important the structure itself is better than any store I checked. As important to me, the wood is smooth and even throughout. The design is modern as I didn't want the same old spindle I had before.

Excellent newel post! We renovated our stairs ourselves taking off carpet and installing hardwood treads and iron balusters. Stairs the post and the tread gray and left the rest tan. Love the look!

Exactly what we were looking for! Couldn’t find a nice square post anywhere else! This one was exactly what we wanted! Couldn’t be happier of how it looks as a finished product in our new home!

Post cracked only after 6 months in middle of post

Posts themselves are great. Good looking, and I’m sure they’ll hold up fine. But OPEN THE BOX when they arrive. I let them sit in the box until the day before the installer was showing up, and one of the posts had already been cut. I’m guessing it was a return, but still. Could have delayed my install if I had to order a replacement. Not sure already cut posts should be resold. It worked out ok for this particular job, but the seller should be doing QA/QC, and I learned that I have to check things well in advance of a project.

Not sure if defective is the right word to use, but neither is damaged. Anyway, the moulding was separated from the post on two sides. You can see in photo. Had to request replacement.
