Very bright and great for riding at night. Will buy again for the back wheel. Review: Useful lights, unresponsive customer service - I love wheel lights! The fun, colorful, decorative lights are playful, and the safe practicality of being clearly illuminated from the sides is an actual life saver. So, when my last wheel lights stopped working I knew it was an easy decision to replace them. I purchased and installed my new lights and headed out for my commute. Two blocks from home, I heard a freaky clunking from my wheel and pulled over. Somehow, the battery pack came unstrapped, snapped the wire, and made its way out from my spokes. Tracing back the trail of pieces behind me, the case cracked open, lost the fresh batteries in a pile of leaves, and the battery box door that had broken off was almost immediately run over by a car. Though I was supremely thankful nothing got lodged in my wheel to take me out in traffic, it was still an intense start to a Monday morning. Unfortunately, I didn't even get to use my new lights once before they were toast. I proceeded to spend the rest of the day replaying in my head what happened and what could have gone wrong since the battery box was snapped shut and properly strapped to my spokes, right? It wasn't until I returned home that I saw the broken piece of rubber strap laying on the ground. Presumably, sometime between installation and my commute, the strap had snapped, leaving the battery box to fly off once I started pedaling hard. If I didn't see the rubber piece I would have never even considered it since, in all other respects, it's a pretty hardy strap. I shared this with Brightz directly, and even after a follow-up email from me, I never received any acknowledgment. Take that for what it's worth. I'm just thankful I lived to tell the tale. Check your straps, turn your lights on, and be safe out there, cyclists.

From a more hardcore perspective
I run this on an aluminum cyclocross bike that I use for 10 mile commutes, often at night. Been using these for approx 2 weeks. Some notes: Pros: -I can definitely vouch for it's water resistance. I had to bike 15 miles home yesterday through a torrential thunderstorm (the sort that soaks you through within the first 20 seconds) with these on. There were also long flooded sections of path where my tires were completely submerged. The lights were on and stayed on throughout the ordeal. Checking the next day to see if any water might have seeped in overnight, nope, they still worked. -The materials seem sturdy. The battery case is a thick plastic and LED strip is encased in clear plastic tubing, so it offers some protection and resilience vs any debris you might hit. -Looks sweet and attracts a lot of positive attention. Neutral considerations: -I've only had these for a total on time of roughly 10 hours, so I can say that a set of batteries can last at least that long -I'm a little concerned that the heavy-ish battery pack would negatively impact my wheel balance. I've taken my rig up to 37 MPH on straights without feeling any negative feedback or vibrations, but I'm still apprehensive about doing fast turns. Cons/Improvement suggestions: -Ease of replacing batteries. The battery casing is held shut by four screws, which is a bit of a pain to open (especially once the pack is already secured on your wheel). Would be nicer if it used some sort of tab/locking mechanism instead -More versatile mounting options. The provided mounting mechanism seems to be designed towards wheels with many spokes that cross over. My wheels have a lower spoke count, those of which are spaced farther apart. My front wheel also doesn't have any points where the spokes cross over, and the angle of intersection between my rear wheel spokes was too high to be compatible with the bracket on the battery pack, so I had to use a bit of creativity (and sandpaper) to secure them. In conjunction with my earlier comment regarding wheel balance, it would be nice to have an option to mount the battery pack on top of the wheel hub, closer to the center of gravity of the wheel. All in all, I'm liking my Tron bike, and will hopefully update this review as I put it through more trials (battery life, subzero Wisconsin winters, general longer term durability, etc) Update 5/17/2018 -Battery life is as long as advertised. -A few more episodes of wading through deep water (some water might get stuck in the tubes afterwards, but trickles out eventually). Two Wisconsin winters later. Still working and holding strong. -Pressures you to pedal harder when on, because cool bikes don't go slow.

Nice and bright.
My son put these on himself and he is 10. They are bright and will help on darker mornings and evening time for bike safety

Are Wheel Brights extraterrestrial?
I have now installed more sets of Wheel Brights than I care to admit. I am back today to order more and have already given them as gifts for my kids, friends/relatives. Are the Wheel Brightz inexpensive? No, in fact I delayed purchasing my first set for months because the price seems quite steep for cutesy LED bike lights. However, after finally buying my first set (2-pack) and installing (first time takes some effort [20 min] but simple for me now [5min]) I now see that they are well worth every penny. These lights (blue, red and green are all bright and vibrant colors) are super fun! They make biking much more fun and much more safe... How safe? Cars now come to a screeching halt as soon as we approach an intersection just to gawk at the effects, that or they think aliens are landing, in any case they work! The circus is coming to town every time our family rolls through! How fun? When I roll through the neighborhood bike path near sundown the little kids and toddlers chase after my bike, like a pack of wild dogs, gleefully pointing and drooling over "the coolest bike I ever seen!" One caveat. People on foot, on bikes and in cars will flag you down to find out where you get those lights? It can be annoying but I typically indulge if time permits. Ok, they are the greatest thing in the galaxy and known universe? Well, maybe... but of course there are a few imperfections in the Wheel Brightz. As some reviewers have lamented they simply don't fit small kiddie bikes very well or sometimes at all. I recommend them for 20" or larger for best results and smaller sizes depend on the wheel/spoke design. If the battery pack fits inside the spokes you can always spiral the lights or wrap them more than once for a nice effect. They also require battery replacement but I can go a month or so between changes (depending on use of course) and if you are proficient at Wheel Brightz installation it's no bid deal. It may be a nuisance if you are not used to the installation process. The switches are a bit flaky and sometimes require a bit of messing with to get them to switch on/off but I've yet to have one fail. However, I could see how they one day might fail and is a distinct possibility. Are they built to last a lifetime? No, definitely not. I expect to occasionally replace... I asked my three kids what they thought of them just now (ages 6-11) and they just just went wild.
