Is this a hardcover notebook?

No, but I put them in a black solid-cover binder (cover embossed 'Cambridge Limited' so likely on Amazon as well) - works fine and has additional room on the (opened) cover for business cards, etc. I carry my laptop and the notebook in the same zip-up case, so I can carry everything into a meeting in a single notebook sized zip-up. Love the size!

Does a fountain pen bleed through the pages?

My boss uses a Mont Blanc blue fineliner pen. It definitely bleeds through so seems he uses pencil for the most part with this product.
