Q: Will this work for a 3 bell system? The one I have seems to be weak and the bells are not very loud

If all three aren't used at the same time. So, unless this is for a busy "speak easy" or ah-hmm "similar" place, it should work. The key word is should. If the bells aren't very loud you may wish to look at hearing aids.... just kidding. This actually puts out more than 16VAC on my 120VAC supply. Mine reads 22VAC. I have it as part of a test bench for checking 115VAC 400Hz aircraft items. It was considerably less expensive than an accurate AC transformer. see less

Q: Is a resistor needed when installing this with the ring 2?

The 2nd ring it's already been feed by the 1st one so you should need it.

Q: my door bell only rings once if botton is pushed once but if you hold the botton down it will have a couple of rings . is this normal ?

If you push one is going to ring according to the bell. My goes din, don short bell and long bell with the back door switch. Check your bell to see if have different settings

For the low voltage terminals it doesn't matter.
