Eric Carle Elementary World Map Kids Machine Washable Area Rug Blue/Red, 35"x51"

Can't say enough about this carpet, I read a few reviews and saw a lot about a chemical smell but decided to try my luck and am happy I did. Of course it had a little bit of a rubbery smell when I first got it but that was only when I picked it up and had it close to my face, once laid out I didn't smell a thing. I have vacuumed it many times and have not had any pulling from within the carpet or around the edges (knock on wood!). I grew up on Eric Carle books so I really love that I'm getting to share this with my daughter.

The fibers for this rug aren’t as sturdy as I expected. Some came out as I was opening the rug and there’s a visible spot that has fibers missing. The rug also came with the nasty vinegary smell. I put carpet fresh powder over it and left it overnight, hopefully that does the trick. Otherwise my entire classroom will stink tomorrow. It made the whole room smell within minutes of opening.Other than that, I love the size and the rug picture itself.

Perfect size for babys little reading/playing area. It’s not super thick, but soft enough that he can sit and read without his butt getting cold from the tile floors. Would definitely buy again in more designs. Before using it, I put it outside in the sun to air out the packaging smell and did a little lysol spray then vacuumed.

Update: this rug has been in our house for a few days and it’s falling apart. I’m returning it. I guess you get what you pay for.Cute rug but someone needs to study a (different) map. Long Island is not part of Connecticut. It may not seem like a big deal but our family lives in CT and we live in TX and I got the rug to help my son visualize. Also the plastic tag things caused pretty significant damage in the rug before anyone even used it.

Very cute rug just the way I wanted. But, I received a defective one. Threads of rugs are pulled and many inappropriate lines in the middle of the rug. It is disappointing.

Super cute for a child however, I have some complaints: the rubber was pretty stinky, the plastic tags to hold it in place for shipping left big holes, it’s not soft whatsoever, the pictures are very blurry, and it doesn’t lay on the carpet very well since it is so lite.

Mostly chose this one because it features the very hungry caterpillar and we have a states puzzle that we love so it seemed like a common sense edition to our play room. It washes well and easily and has stood up to toddlers, teenagers, and large dogs. It has not developed any runs or tears and the backing is still solid. We really like this rug. It isn’t cuddly soft but that isn’t what we wanted. It’s hardy and a fun play rug and soft enough to crawl around with bare knees and not be uncomfortable

I read reviews before purchasing so I was very careful when removing the packaging. There is one area where you can see the carpet is missing thread or something but other than that, it seems durable enough for what I will be using it for. It had a slight smell, nothing too overwhelming. I sprayed it with febreeze and it’s fine now. Good for the price. I would recommend for non high traffic areas.

Loved this rug! My kids are really into the hungry caterpillar and loved all the pictures from the story books they read. Not super soft but doesn’t move around due to the rubber rug backing. A very welcome addition to our reading nook!
