A favorite present for the holidays!! The board is sleek and clean. The pieces are smooth, magnetic....easy to play with and putting away is never a chore. The board folds into a case and conceals the pieces. We haven't lost a single piece yet! Great value for the price, wonderful design, and the color options are great. Easy to transport and if you drop it, the pieces don't pop open. I love it!!!

Of all the gifts my eight-year-old grandson received for his birthday, this chess and checkers set was the clear winner and prompted a giant hug. It has now earned permanent residency in his backpack, which is probably the highest honor an eight-year-old can bestow on anything. He carries it everywhere, including school, friends’ houses, and family trips. The board folds neatly, and the fitted storage keeps the pieces organized instead of roaming loose through his backpack with the pencils, snack wrappers, Pokemon cards, and other mysterious childhood cargo. The magnetic pieces are especially helpful for playing on the go. They stay in place if the table gets bumped or the game has to be moved, which prevents a strategic chess match from suddenly becoming a search-and-rescue operation. The wooden board and pieces also look and feel much nicer than a typical plastic travel set. I especially like that it includes both chess and checkers, so children of different ages and skill levels can play. The board is large enough for a satisfying game but still portable when folded. It even includes two extra queens, a thoughtful addition for players learning pawn promotion. Any gift that encourages strategy, patience, social interaction, and less screen time is a win. And I get the win for a game my grandson willingly carries everywhere, so it's a five-star home run!

The quality is kind of jank but you're getting what you pay for at this price point. It gets the job done, I do like the magnets even if some weren't set right, making the pieces slightly crooked.

The colors are neutral and it’s a good solid set. Not sure it’s all made of wood, but the quality is great. Bought for a beginner chess player and has been a huge success. Wasn’t missing any pieces and everything was in good condition. It’s light weight enough to carry but heavy enough to play on a windy day. Fun game!
