In der Hauptsache sollte das Laufwerk für die Übertragung meines Datenarchivs auf Festplatte dienen, das derzeit auf zahlreichen DVDs und CD-Roms gespeichert ist. Mein MacBook Pro hat kein Laufwerk, weshalb ich mir dieses externe Laufwerk angeschaft habe.Die selbstgebrannten DVDs und CD-Roms sind teilweise über 20 Jahre alt und wurden mit den verschiedensten Systemen, Hardware und Software auf völlig unterschiedliche Medien gebrannt.Fazit nach rund 50 eingelesenen Datenträgern: 0% Ausfall, 0 Fehler! Das Laufwerk hat JEDE der Scheiben - egal wie vergilbt die teils schon waren - anstandslos gelesen.Dabei war auch die Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit in Ordnung (je nach Medium und dessen Zustand zwischen 5 und 15 MB/s, real gemessen).Einziger Kritikpunkt, der angesichts des günstigen Preises aus meiner Sicht aber eigentlich vernachlässigbar ist: die Verarbeitung des Schlittens ist etwas "filigran" mit Plastik-Anmutung.Und: Wenn das Laufwerk auf Touren kommt, hört man es natürlich und es ist kein Flüsterlaufwerk. Wer womöglich einen Film in leiser Umgebung anschauen möchte, könnte sich evtl. davon gestört fühlen. Allerdings wird bei einer Film-DVD womöglich die Umdrehungsgeschwindigkeit nicht so hoch sein, sodass es etwas weniger rauscht. Aber das konnte ich bislang nicht testen. Bei Daten-DVDs bin ich froh um die annehmbar hohe Geschwindigkeit und die Geräuschentwicklung ist sekundär.Insgesamt demnach absolut zufriedenstellend.

I recently had to purchase a new HP laptop after Dell delivered my original laptop, that they had repaired under warranty, to the front garden of an address 385 miles from where I live: It disappeared. The new HP does not have a CD/DVD drive and I wanted to load my CD's onto my laptop for transfer onto my phone. I was dubious when I saw that the purchase price was £15 on Amazon, but the reviews were positive. It arrived the next day, I plugged the USB fixing into the new laptop, inserted one of my favourite CD's into the HP External Drive and less than 10 minutes later it had burned the CD onto the laptop and I was able to play the tracks back perfectly. I can not recommend this External Drive enough. It is ideal for external memory to back up files or to use for music or films.

Gerät entspricht nicht der Beschreibung. Es wird fälschlich mit USB 3.0 beworben, weist aber lediglich eine USB 2.0-Schnittstelle auf.

I bought this for my new HP laptop which in common with most laptops now does not have a CD/DVD drive. Tried a cheap drive first but that would not read a CD, this drive had no problem. Despite being USB2 and the manual that came with it saying it was for Windows 7 & 8 it ran at a good rate with Windows 10.

Not the cheapest, but didn’t want any compatibility hassles with my new HP PC. The cord is a bit short TBH. Thank that’s a bit stingy. But all good otherwise. Would def recommend.
