These 60 grit sponges have a rough texture that feels comparable to similar ones I've used, and do a good job of sanding paint, wood, etc. The sponge foam is soft rather than stiff, so it conforms to surfaces and remains maneuverable whether dry or wet. When sanding flat surfaces, you might want to place a small piece of flat wood between your palm and the foam to ensure an even finish. It rinses and dries without notable degradation of the grit or bond to the foam.
