Perfect to adapt older charger to new laptop with smaller ports

The adapter fits standard high end Dell Laptop power supply and other side plugs into the Dell OptiPlex3040 power inlet. It all worked perfectly.

These are great additions to old Dell power bricks that uses larger barrel sizes. There is a center pin in the thinner barrel as someone else stated in the reviews there is no center pin. You still have to use the correct wattage power brick with your devices. A 65w rated Dell power brick will throw an error when used with a device that requires 130w.

I have two laptops, one for work and one for home, both Dell, but different models. However, the power adapter had always been interchangeable. Well, work recently rolled out new laptops, and of course, the new laptop power adapter is smaller. I rolled the dice on this, having had mixed results with similar products, and was gladly surprised. Not only does it work, there's also a spare! The only downside is that if you don't position the adapter on a table with enough slack, and let it hang off of the table, lap, couch, or whatever, it does have a tendency to put additional pressure on the pin. I could see it posing a future problem if left to pull down all of the time, but as long as you're aware and don't let that happen, you should be good. Works great and is a helluva lot cheaper than buying an entire power brick!!

I've used these with 10-year old power supplies and 1 year-old power supplies, and there have been no issues with fit or current overload, or fried laptops, or anything scary like that. If it's not clear in the Description, these take larger barrel connector tips and reduce them to a narrower barrel connector tips so you can use older power supplies with newer laptops (plus, they make the cord about a foot longer). I would suggest that the only downside I see is that older power supplies may not have the wattage to charge larger laptop batteries, which means it may take longer to charge. But this is a great way to repurpose older power supplies.

I left my old Dell XPS 12 9Q23 AC adapter at a family member's in another state so I looked into buying a new cheapo AC adapter... but I already had an old AC adapter with the larger round connector. It looked like these adapters would work so I could use the AC adapter I already had at home. I bought this two pack which seemed to be one of the better deals since I didn't need a 5 or 6 pack. So far so good. They're working fine. I'll update this review if it changes.

It takes a while, but the wires break off at the end of the plug - needs a heavier wire - had to re-purchase. Would buy again despite flimsy construction.
