Borderline scam
JUST TO BE CLEAR, I AM NOT ASSOCIATED IN ANY WAY WITH CMI. I just spend waaaay too much time obsessing over the minutiae of brewing and cooking. My ADHD brain is just happy when it gets to hyper-focus like that. CMI makes the real, high-quality product we all have come to love. These guys were their distributors, quit/got fired/I don't know, but then resurfaced with a mediocre "candi syrup" they are trying to pass off as the real thing. The original CMI candi syrup: The complexity of the sweetness is unreal, born out of the extremely convoluted process they use to process their beet and corn sugars [long exposition removed, you are welcome]. There is no other sweetness that comes even close to it in depth of flavors. The "new" LD Carlson syrup: It is runny where the other is thick and syrupy, and it is made out of high fructose corn syrup with what tastes like a lot of artificial flavors. And the difference is not trivial; it is like comparing a microbrewed heavy octoberfest beer with an alcohol free budweiser. What makes it scammy is that they have new product pages on Amazon, where they use the images from the original CMI syrups. Then they went back and on the old product pages, where the CMI products were sold, and replaced the CMI images with the ones from their new inferior products. Seriously, folks? Not recommended because their product is inferior to the real deal, and because they think scamming people by trying to pass their corn syrup for the real deal is a smart business practice. - UPDATE - It is just corn syrup and caramel, complete garbage compared to the real thing. I kept it for making cookies and honestly that was a waste of money.

This is always good
Adds color and a bit of yeast food. It's a nice add to your boil.

Not the genuine item
The item that arrived is not made by Candi Syrup Inc. The label says it is packaged LD Carlson and contains high fructose corn syrup, caramelized sugar syrup, and caramel. According to the Candi Syrup Inc website, they no longer distribute through LD Carlson. Furthermore, their produce is made from beet sugar and water.
