Because of the layout of our house, I am forced to vent the clothes dryer vertically through the roof. For a long time I fought with the issue of getting a weather and critter free vent that did not obstruct air/lint flow. I tried all sorts of standard dryer vents and tried designing something but was not satisfied.My son (who should be an engineer like his father...) thought further outside the box than I had been and suggested this type of stack exhaust.It was a little heavy for the expected air flow as supplied, but there is a conveniently located hole. I added a bolt, nut and some washers to counterbalance the cover. The result is a dryer vent cover that meets all my needs (and is the perfect size to mate with the PVC vent pipe).

Is got a hole in the rear to add weight is your exhaust doesn't put out enough to blow the flap open. I used 2 square pieces if steel and a couple of 1/4oz wheel weights to get mine balanced.

Perfect if you have a hoodstack to keep elements away if you don’t have a garage.

After being installed on my chipper it fell apart after just 4 hours of running time. And I'm not just talking bolts falling out the metal housing just filed itself away.

Worked great for top on my smoker pipe.
