I purchased the 80w recessed LED lamps to replace fluorescent fixtures in my basement's drywall ceiling. These lamps are well designed, very compact (the light itself is no thicker than the drywall), and they do appear to be the equivalent of an 80w incandescent in brightness. A couple of my lamps were installed partially beneath a joist which is possible because the units are so thin. The J-boxes are compact which makes stringing romex house wiring through them a bit cramped; they require a bit of finesse, but they were able to accomodate the12ga wire that was used in my basement. The LED fixture itself is aluminum and serves to dissipate heat from the LED. If you touch the fixture you'll find they get fairly warm, but not too hot to touch. Overall I am very pleased with these lights. I got the warm version, and they make the room much more inviting than the old fluorescent lamps did.

While I like the convenience of the pancake recess lights, I dislike how they look when not on. The fully flat look is not appealing to me as I very much like the look of the traditional recess light with the baffles. I was very happy to see these designs now incorporated in this light and will be replacing our other pancake like without baffles with these. Installation was as easy as before but there is a need for a little more clearance. If the previous light was not over any studs, then it's as easy as before. However, if the previous light was over a stud, you'll need to shave the stud by 1/4 to 1/2 inch to make this stay flat on the ceiling.

The packaging this product comes in is very protective and well thought out. If you are familiar with electrical, these are a breeze to install w/ plenty of room in the wiring box for two pairs of 14 gauge wire with the light's wiring. I like that the light itself is detachable from the wiring box. Would I purchase this product again? The answer is, "Yes". I installed these before the drop ceiling and they give off a good amount of "white" light.

Easy to install good light output

I’m an electrician, and these little 4” slimline old work recess are fantastic! I used them in my house, and many of my clients houses as well. They are bright, super slim, and easy to replace when necessary. My local hardware store charges between $16-24 dollars for similar products. I installed 30 of these lights in my home about 4 years ago. I’ve only had to replace 4 of them. It’s very easy to do. The only drawback is that they only dim to about 10 percent. Other than that…I have nothing bad to say. I highly recommend these!!!

I really enjoyed these. Please make sure you look at the color quality they have posted. The lights come very bright, even for the soft warm.However, easy to install, very professional look and great quality product.

I bought these to replace earlier Torchstar LED spots that I had installed a few years ago in my kitchen. The older models would come on, stay on for a while, then start going off. Several had to be replaced as the transformers had literally melted. With these, there is simply no heat, either in the transformer which comes built-in to a an electrical box or the light itself. I also installed an appropriate Lutrel dimmer. These new lights work great even after being on for hours and dim effectively as well. I will update this review if future experience diminishes in the manner that their predecessors did.

These are beautiful lights and super bright; . Love the bright daylight color; I just ordered another box but I already have these lights from last year ; they have been working great and they are still working just as bright as ever I just got the other ones for replacement for I guess 5 years from now : these are suppose to last for five years but I just wanted to make sure I had back ups I don’t want to order from anyone else these are perfect. I got plenty of extra ones
