Hi: So to be clear , we bypass the ballast and wire 120 volt power to one end and if the 120 volt power goes out the lamp has a 90 min battery backup

Generally correct, but the battery only work when the main power off, if just the switch off, and main power working good,the bulb will work like a normal bulb

Do we need to purchase a battery for the back up to work or is the battery included
