Edifier R1280T Speakers - Exceptional Sound at an Affordable Price
The Edifier R1280T speakers have been a fantastic addition to my setup. These bookshelf speakers deliver rich, clear sound with impressive depth for their price range. The 4-inch bass driver and 13mm silk dome tweeter provide a well-balanced audio experience that works perfectly for both music and movies. The sound is detailed without being overwhelming, offering a warm, natural tone that fills the room. One of the standout features is the adjustable tone control on the side panel, allowing me to fine-tune the bass and treble to my preference. The remote control is also a convenient feature, making it easy to adjust volume or switch input sources without getting up. The build quality is solid, with a classic wood finish that looks stylish and professional in any setting. The speakers are compact enough to fit on my desk but still produce excellent sound quality for a variety of content. For the price, the Edifier R1280T speakers are an excellent value, offering clear, balanced sound and flexibility in a beautiful design. They’re ideal for anyone looking for high-quality desktop speakers without breaking the bank. Highly recommended!

I am amazed at the clarity
Purchased these after a lot of deliberation between these and the R1700BT. For my kind of liking, I preferred the more spatial sound of the 1280s. I saw a lot of one to one sound reviews on youtube but each time ended preferring these. These are tiny in size but powerful and more than big in sound for their size and use them as my desk top speakes. Being powered, these are plug and play and would form an ideal desktop companion to your pc's. I am amazed at the clarity. I own a bigger set up of Bose 301 + Norge Concert Gold amp. But... But I love these little darlings more due to the clarity. Unfortunately the bose and norge combination is harsh on the treble and over emphasizes the bass. I am also amazed at the consistency of the frequencies both at low and high volumes. Even at full volumes the bass is tight and treble is crystal clear. What hooked me to these speakers was the ability to throw out spatial sound. I use them as a stereo pair and am amazed at their sound stage and presence in my 12x15 ft room. I use logitech bt adapater on one of the RC plugs and have the other for my radio. The pc is hooked via bt to the logitech. There is no need of any switches to switch the inputs. One can play both sources simultaneously. If you are looking for a near field speaker with emphasis on clarity then these suit this need pretty well. You will be amazed at the way these small speakers produce such clear notes which are in the range of around 80% to the notes from speakers around 3-5 times the price of these. That is why these are compared with some of the best bookshelf speakers, although not really in their range. These can pretty well be used for a small home party too as they can get just that loud too. The remote is quiet handy if you use them as TV speakers and sit away from them. The only cons are not related to the sound but the smell these emanate out of the box, the radio interference they have on my radio fm reception, but with an external antenna the problem is solved. If you are confused and ask my opinion between these and the 1700s I will suggest go for the 1280 due to their very high sound to price index. Edit on 4-june-2019- they work fine even today. However I am not sure if it is my ears or what but they sound harsh as they reproduce notes clearly and at near field my ears ache please note.

Great speakers for the price. Few drawbacks.
I got them for a lightning deal of 6k so for that price these are great. However there are a few drawbacks. One is that the speakers aren’t as loud as one would expect for the size. I’ve used them for a few weeks regularly but the loudness is average. Not bad for parties for average to small sized living room and for movies. Also another problem is the fact that these have a very inconvenient switch placement to turn them off. A 42W speaker will consume 42W of power irrespective of the fact that it’s not playing any audio. Turning them off while not in use is highly recommended hence the inconvenient placement of the switch. If you however need a pair of speakers for some really good quality audio and for occasional movies to replace those flat TV speakers these are a great choice. You won’t go wrong just don’t expect fireworks.

Loud enough for small living room. Output is clean.

The best quality speakers in this price range
Its the best bang for the buck. The sound quality is very good (perhaps the best one can get in this budget..I haven't listened to better quality speakers in this price range..let me know if you have). Doesn't sound at all like 2.1 computer speakers which always compensate for lack of clarity by having loud, boomy and just-plain-noisy bass. It gets loud enough to be adequate for large rooms and halls (of course in halls you have to atleast cover up the walls in drapes so that sound doesn't reflect and create echoes). For audiophiles, they need to sit at right, sweet spot or try adjusting the speaker to various positions, to hear the best stereo effect from both speakers. I have listened to a lot of 2.1 cheaper computer speakers during my college years, but this just straight up beats them. And not just in clarity but in the bass department too. These small looking speakers have surprisingly very tight, punchy and deep bass. Of course it isn't as deep as an external subwoofer system would be, but speaker systems with a subwoofer in this price range lack the tightness and punch (which makes the bass enjoyable in the first place). Still the bass in this is more than needed. So much that I can feel the rumble of a car engine when its revved. That too even at very low volume levels! Needless to say it handles high frequencies without any sweat. Instrumentals sound great, and even better when I turn the bass knob down and the treble up. My suggestion: If you have the budget for it, don't hesitate even a bit. Rather you will be pleasantly satisfied if it even falls a little outside your budget. Other pros: The wires are long enough. Plus the remote comes in handy sometimes. Cons: No Bluetooth on this version (Bluetooth version is costlier than it should be at the moment of writing this review). So I had to buy a Logitech bluetooth receiver for around ₹1-1.5k. Plus it would have been a good idea to have a mechanically controlled volume knob instead of digital, so that one can pinpoint the lowest and highest volume settings.

Premium audio for a not so premium price.
I'll try to keep this review short and to the point. I purchased these to be used with my desktop for music, movies and games. The build quality is great, the knobs provided for Bass, treble and volume are of good quality but they could have been better. Same goes for the remote. Coming to the Sound quality, Mids and treble are lively and great. Bass is awesome upto 50 Hz, can push down low up to 40 but starts losing its punch below it and is non existent below 35Hz. One thing I noticed that these speakers got better with some burn in, specially the bass response. I decided to purchase these after being fed up with the mid and lower mid response of my 2.1 speaker system. And after spending a good two months with the system I have to say I'm extremely happy with my purchase. If you are someone who likes a LOT of bass then this one probably isn't for you but if you prefer clear mids and scintillating highs with a bass to complement the two, then this speaker is what you are looking for. Keep in mind that this speaker does not have bluetooth built in, but it can easily be added using a bluetooth audio receiver because the speakers has two separate pair of RCA inputs at the back.

Awesome sound qualy
First of all product is little bit expensive. But it worth it expending on it It's been 3-4 years I am using it regularly with smart tv voa bluetooth. performance is mind blowing bluetooth connectivity is just fine because sometimes I need to connect it manually. Remote control is cheep quality because it is light weight and very small in size

Insane for the cost and an upgrade from a sound bar
Bought these because I didn’t want to overspend when I’m on my headset mostly, but these blew me away and its stand you can buy to raise it is a must in my opinion. Couldn’t be happier with them. Sound bars suck (I use it on my outside TV now and these bad boys on my PC) Volume is consistent, perfect, zero screech or anything static etc. it moved across country and wasn’t damaged so quality. Oh, it’s beautiful. The white is stunning and it connects effortlessly to my PC. I can’t believe how much I enjoy gaming without my headset now when playing games solo and not on discord or anything. Hearing things like they’re all around you is crazy for front, stereo speakers. I recommended these just the other day.

Big Things Come In Small Packages - I'm Surprised!
These days its harder to find a set of speakers that are good, for a cheap price. It seemed like all the speakers I was looking for under a hundred, were so cheaply made, that they break within a year as according to reviews. I already have a couple of large speaker systems that slam the bass so hard, that the walls in the house shake, great for watching movies! I just needed a couple of amplified speakers to hook up to my cell phone, to listen to music, while I am sleeping. These speakers are really well made, the 2-way drivers are quality, the wooden paneling is beautiful. The port connections on the back are solid, and the controls on the right speaker are real nice. These speakers actually come with a RCA to 3.5mm adapter for use with small devices, which was really nice of them, and hooking them up was easy as well. One of the reasons why I chose this model, was for its remote control, that way I don't have to get out of bed, in order to turn them up or down. Treble, Bass, and Volume are located on the right speaker, and the remote operates volume up/down and mute function. If your looking for the ultimate in sound quality, these are not it. Even with the treble turned all the way up, there is a clear lack of high frequencies production, as compared to other speakers more expensive then these. Infact, the next model up from Edifier, produce better highs, as heard from audio reviews on Youtube, in comparison to these. However, where the next model up lacks in bass production, this model shines. These speakers have so much bass, that even if you turn the bass down, your still hearing bass. And if you crank the bass all the way up, and crank the volume up, they will amaze you as to what they can do, for only a 4" driver! Since I use them while sleeping, I keep the bass down. But in testing I had the bass cranked up, and they really sound nice for what they are. What really blew me away however, was how good the separation is on these speakers. Most cheap speakers I ever owned lacked in proper separation. When I listen to tracks which are true stereo, the music really sounds amazing, and I still can't believe that these little speakers are capable of producing better separation, then my large 10" driver AAL speakers, or my 5.1 surround sound system. Keep in mind however, always match your speaker size to your room size. The reason these sound amazing for me, is my bedroom is only a 15' by 15' room. If you want speakers to fill a 18' by 25' living room or larger, I would recommend the Edifier S1000DB speakers. These speakers do have removable grills, but because of the strange placement of the drivers, I think the speakers look better with the grills on. I am also noticing a pattern with modern devices using these mini remote controls now that use expensive lithium batteries. I would prefer a standard size remote control that uses AAA batteries instead. I highly recommend these speakers 5 out of 5! UPDATE: December 6th 2018 I wanted to quickly give an update on my speakers, since its been over a year since my review. These speakers are still doing excellently! They have not shown any signs in wear, both cosmetically, and in operation. They still sound great as they did when new, and I have been using them literally every single day since I got them. For the money they are a good buy, I still recommend them. 5 out of 5 stars.

An absolutely ridiculous value.
These speakers looks great, sound great, have ample connectivity options, feel solid, are easy to set up and come with a remote and removable grilles. Had I bought these for about $250, I'd still be quite happy with them. I bought 2, one for my PC and one for the TV my wife plays DDR on. She's hearing notes in songs she didn't know were there. The bass slam makes it more fun for her to play. On my PC I spent a good time positioning them for good center image and clarity and adding EQ, which it doesn't need a lot of. I find the mids slightly recessed so vocals sound slightly veiled out of the box, and the treble just needs a little tinkering to sound more natural to my ears. I try to give the subbass a slight boost (rolls off below 50hz, inaudible below 30hz) but it's a bit delicate to not make the bass sound too boomy, as they're not shy on bass. They honestly don't need the EQ for most people, it's just like extracting a little extra performance. I don't recommend adjusting the knobs on the side past about 1.5-2 out of the max 6 setting. You're going to get into clipping and boomy territory pretty quick. They sound quite nice overall, particularly with movies and orchestral style music. Dynamics and imaging are quite solid. Bass has good slam and body. Clarity is great for the price, but obviously not high end. These are just well rounded and not obviously disappointing in any way. Negatives? At the highest 10% or so volume settings you can hear minor white noise if you're close to the speakers. Mine are going through my headphones' preamp first so I really don't need to max the internal power on these ever, and the pair I have hooked up to the TV don't seem to be anywhere near short on power. Mids are just slightly recessed for my tastes. If you're listening to mostly podcasts with these and don't care to tinker with EQ there might be better options. Then again, I usually like a boost around 1k on almost everything I listen to so it might just be me. The construction is solid overall, but there's sometimes small strings of what I assume is hot glue hanging off edges of a component or 2. It's not caked on, and quite easy to clean, a few seconds really. The build absolutely does not feel cheap at all outside of that. They look great and feel solid, and there's nothing flimsy with any components or connectors. I guess the only other gripe I can think of is the volume adjustment is a rotary encoder rather than a potentiometer, but that's a tradeoff of having a remote, and really not the biggest deal. Uh, the power connector is non-removable? Length is fine though. As someone who has daily driver Audeze LDC2cs going through a JDS Atom, these speakers are very impressive for being around $100. I'm not a speaker guy so my experience outside of headphones is limited, but these are extremely fun to listen to and have no glaring disappointments compared to my $1000 headphones. I might buy a 3rd set of these as a gift.

Fantastic and awesome!
Absolutely fantastic speakers!!! Like other reviewers wrote, I can’t believe the audio quality through these small and inexpensive beauties, I’m in audio heaven! Also delivery was faster than expected and via a good courier. I’d only like to mention the speakers I received are clearly US/Canada and my bf had to rush to the shop to get a plug converter as they have a USA plug, but it was a very minor inconvenience :) online warranty registration went smoothly too
