The App brings the best from this headphones.
I have been using it for one month still I had a marathon listen to it before writing this review. During this time I found the headphone can handle all type of use. The headphone's noise isolation system has three modes which can be chosen from app or the dedicated button on the headphone. Complete Noise cancellation mode provides most noise cancelling but wind noise is accentuated. Wind noise reduction mode provides a little less noise reduction but when nd issues are eliminated. Ambient sound mode amplifies the surrounding high and high mid sounds which is good for conversion. The app is provides a 5 band equalizer with another bass boost slider which gives access to the equilizer inside headphone. The headphone rembers the eq settings and can be tweaked to fit jazz to orchestra to hip hop to metal to movies. Without the app headphone has a nearly flat response which can be tweaked flat with the App. There are two modes for Bluetooth connection for the headphone which can be adjusted from app. The high quality aptx mode is for high bit rate transmission but it reduces the range and disables the eq and clear bass. Though it is difficult to distinguish between standard and high quality mode, Using the headphone in standard mode gives great range open air and connection is stable behind two doors. Finally this is great headphone for travel and noisy environments. For this price range it is a minimum compromise to sound quality with the added benefits of wireless and active noise cancellation.

Value for money
I'm more of a bass head than an audiophile, so this ticks the right boxes for me. The highs might tend to be a bit shrill in a select few songs, but overall it's an amazing pair of headphones. The equalizer in the Sony Headphones app helps you add the extra zing. It's comfortable for like an hour and a half, but might be uncomfortable post that. That said, since my usage isn't beyond that, it's not an issue as such. The noise cancellation works well with the songs playing, but some high noises might creep in. So the NC isn't as good as the QCs or the 1000XMs, but I feel it's way better in delivering the sound than those headphones. The mic works well with both Android and iPhone, so full marks there.

Worthy for it's price
Good product at this price. Though the noice cancellation effect is not that good as expected from Sony but sound quality is good and other control features are amazing. Battery life is also good.

I already have the extra base version of these headphones but sometimes you don't nead that extra base and these are just the job to listen to a sony walkman with.Clarity is very good as you would expect from sony.

Worth it no regrets
Had the Beats by Dr Dre headphones knowing I wasn't getting my money's worth but I couldn't complain since I got them with in store credits. After one year of using them they broke so I saved up money and got these. The bass is pure and actually changes unlike Beats where you get this hard thump like sound that sounds forced. The acoustics on these are the best I can hear every detail in song even the small details on the guitar. The best part about these are the fact that you get cables so you dont need to depend on the blueotooth all the time and the battery life is exceptional. Would recommend these to anyone who is looking for expensive headphones and wants good sound quality.Update: 9 months with these and the sound is almost addictive lol very clear and almost always surprises me. I don't use them as often though unless I'm travelling or commuting and I put them on when fixing audio while editing videos. After heavy use, stuffing them in bags, and playing +100 hour's of audio they are still going strong! I have to admit I do plan on buying some ear buds very soon to replace these for the summer months just because these headphones draw a lot of attention while out in public which can be annoying sometimes and the noise cancellation works so well that I occasionally miss things that people tell me even with ambient noise activated. It can also get really wet around the ears when you start sweating during the summer so I've decided that I'll be using ear buds during the hotter months as soon as spring time is over.

Buy them new. I don't think you will regret it.
I can't recommend these enough! But I couldn't keep them. I've left a review elsewhere which included why ANC is needed on my commute so I won't go into that here. All I have to say is these headphones were so good that it hurt to send them back. They share so many features with Sony's more expensive other cans, the XM3s, the LDAC, the Aptx HD, the equaliser, the only thing they're missing is the premium NC. That being said the ANC on these cans is excellent. They mask out not only the low end rumble which so many cans do but these, I'm happy to say, eliminate some of the mid and higher range. Chatter is muted, whistling wind noise (ever been on a bus, moving 100 kph where the door seal isn't tight?) is also softened. The reason I had to return these cans had to do with the way that the ANC was dealing with mid range noise. It may have been only the sound of my jaw, it may have been the way that the seal between the ear up and my skin wasn't perfect but these cans gave off a popping, crackling every now and again. There are stories online about this stuff. And you know what the solution tended to be? Smack them! Take them off and hit them. The idea is: something inside the earcup is a little loose and this will jar it into a more stable place. Guess what? It worked for me. The popping went away...mostly. For days it was gone, nary a noise, but the damage was done. From then on I kept expecting it, wary of it, on edge expecting it to return. It did for a day and then it was gone again. I had to believe the headphones knew I was thinking of returning them and they were on their best behaviour. True. No kidding. But again the damage was done. I'd paid more than I'd ever paid before for headphones. And the cost would have been worth it, except they were used and they made this popping sound and my trust was lost. I need to have trust in my aural experience, especially at 5 in the morning. That trust was lost and I thought I've spent too much money to settle so back they went. But I have to say if you're getting these new, if you're looking for an XM3 experience without the price then I highly recommend these. All was not lost. In buying these and others I've learned a lot about what works for me and what doesn't. I'm more of an expert now than I've ever been and I have to thank Amazon's return policy for making that happen.

Not as comfortable as I was led to believe
I'm surprised so many other reviews are praising these headphones for being comfortable. Granted I have a big head, but even when each side of the headband is on the 8th notch (out of 10) the ear cups still press uncomfortably hard against the sides of my head. Maybe that'll lessen as I break them in. Something that won't change over time though is the ear cup size. They're quite small, and my ears press against the insides of them. The padding on top of the headband is nice.Comfort aside, the sound quality is good. Not too much bass. The gesture controls are something that I didn't expect I'd like as much as I do. The NFC connect is a must have; I'll never buy wireless headphones that don't have it from now on. No longer do I have to mess around in my phone's Bluetooth menu to connect. The build seems fairly sturdy, but I wish the ear cups could swivel more. They can only swivel maybe 15 degrees or so. There are no markings along the headband to see how far out the ear cups have been pulled, and they slide back and forth without much resistance so it's easy to accidentally move them, and then have to count out the notches until it's back in its proper spot. The lack of a USB-C port is disappointing. No charger comes with the headphones, and I found that several of my micro USB chargers don't work with it.The noise cancelling is pretty good. It blocks out the sound of my air conditioner with the exception of the sound of a quiet breeze. It allows me to play music at low volume in a somewhat loud environment and still hear it perfectly well. Whenever the active noise cancelling is enabled I can feel a sort of pressure against my ears, and while it's certainly not a good feeling, it's not distracting, and it's hardly a bother. The colour listed as "black" is actually grey, and not even a particularly dark grey at that. The pictures are misleading. The headphones supports apt-X HD and LDAC which is great for playing music, but both of them have a very noticeable lag when watching videos or playing games. It's a shame they don't support apt-X LL, and that missing feature is probably what'll lead me to making my next headphones purchase. Fortunately there's a 3.5 mm aux port for lag free listening, but it's recessed, so only very thin 3.5 mm plugs can fit into it. Additionally whenever you unplug the 3.5 mm plug the headphones power off. This can be seen as convenient or annoying.

Great headphones with fantastic sound quality and good noise-cancelling capabilities
Great headphones with fantastic sound quality and good noise-cancelling capabilities. It was between these and a Bose pair, but I went for the slightly better sound quality. Still, the noise-cancelling is able to take out any humdrum in the area. They fit nicely over top of my glasses and the battery life has impressed me. One minor thing is that Sony has only tested the re-charging for these headphones on a USB to laptop (not wall). So far no issues with charging in either, but just an odd thing to include. Other than that, the sound, fit, and noise-cancelling are all that I was looking for.
