Ah...my seemingly never-ending book light quest has ended!:)
I think I've only reviewed 3 items out of the many (many:) I've purchased here. Very few things excite me enough to take the time. However, since I've literally spent years searching for a book light that met all my requirements, I know how frustrating it can be. I, myself, really rely on reviews before I order something so figured I'd throw in my two-cents here in hopes that it might help some of my fellow "searchers".Up until a month ago, I believe I've purchased all but 2 of the book lights offered here and wasn't particularly happy with any of them. Last month I finally ordered the one made by iKross. After carefully reading all the reviews, I was convinced it was "the one". It very well might have been but I've no way of judging since no matter how I tried, couldn't get the darn battery cover off! I re-read the reviews to see if I missed any mention of that problem...nothing. But, I DID see one post asking for feedback from a gal that was having the same issue but no one ever answered her inquiry. My luck that out of all those that have been sold, we seem to be the only 2 that had that problem:)Called Amazon customer service. They tried to locate the vendor's direct contact number but couldn't access it. Without my asking, rep credited my account with a refund and didn't even ask me to return the product. Amazon's prices may not always be the lowest but I've always felt their customer service and return policy was the best of any of the many websites I utilize:)Then I ordered the only one remaining...this little treasure. I was looking for a light that I could use with a book, my Kindle Keyboard as well as my wireless keyboard. Having reached my senior years, my eyes need a brighter light to do everything. They are also very sensitive so I need one that's not too glaring as well. Disturbing anyone that might be near me should it be TOO bright isn't an issue for me:)PROS: The biggest plus IMHO for this one...as well as the iKross...is the fact they both take "regular" batteries. No way did I want to get stuck needing a more expensive, harder to obtain "fancy" battery. Love the way the switch works and its two-levels of brightness. Clips on well for a regular book and isn't top-heavy so it doesn't "droop" at all. Range of motion of the arm is great! Position it exactly where I want,no glaring hot spots and it stays where I angle it. Clip fits perfectly and holds well on the bottom left-hand side of my wireless keyboard (full-sized)and light covers the entire device. Marvelous light coverage when used on my Kindle Keyboard as well.CONS: Levels of brightness are perfect for my needs and the light is quite soothing. However, for those of you that may need to be considerate of others, it might be TOO bright. There's not that much difference in brightness between the 2 levels, although the change IS noticeable. As to my use of it with my Kindle: I keep this device in a fairly thick, 2-sided cover.Clip is too long to fit on the top of the Kindle itself (that's why the one from iKross seemed to be "the one". It was the exact fit to keep clipped on to the top of the device while in the case) So, I clip this one to the left side of the cover. Prevents me from folding that side back... have to keep the cover fully opened. Actually, without a cover, probably wouldn't fit this particular Kindle at all but haven't a clue if this would hold true with the other Kindle versions. This might bother some of you but the light and the coverage are so good that it's just a minor inconvenience I'm happy to live with, all things considered.I've only been using this light for about 2 weeks now so I can't attest to its longevity. Sure hope it lasts for a reasonable length of time though...whatever THAT is for goods nowadays:) Really satisfied but... to be honest...will probably always wonder if that one made by iKross WOULD have been "the one", LOL. HAPPY READING ALL!

Prefect reading and many other uses
I'm the kind of person that truly counts on reviews to guide my selection. Hence I felt compelled to review this light for others as I'm so pleased with this light.I basically bought this for my wife because she liked to read at night to fall asleep. I know how much she enjoys reading at night, yet it would be very irritating for me, especially if I had a long day and just wanted to fall asleep. So that began my search for a reading light. For our use, I needed:- Something that would clip onto the headboard - and stay on. The headboard shelves are about 3/4 inch thick. This light clips on and could probably clip on shelves up to an inch. It stays put even when being adjusted. Bonus, it clips on thick towel racks too.- Adjustable so that light did not shine on me (about 2 feet away in king bed) whiles she reads but doesn't cast so much light as to light up the rest of the room (it meets both criteria).- The neck is quite long, easily adjustable and stays in the configuration it was adjusted to (it doesn't change shape after adjusted)- Bright enough to read comfortably from about 2-3 feet away. The light has two settings and a double-bubble type lens over the LED bulbs. One or both bulbs can be turned on. From 3 feet away, she still prefers the lower setting (fine with me, saves battery life)- Uses standard batteries (it takes 3 AAA) batteries. Both NiCd and NiMh rechargeable batteries work great too. We're using 800mA NiMh low-self-discharge (LSD) batteries (made by tenergy). So far, we haven't recharged them even after about 30 hours of use. But even cheap NiCd rechargeable would probably last over 20 hours. No tools are needed to change the batteries. Now for the pleasant surprises:- There is no banding from the bulbs or lens when reading. It's a pure, smooth, tranquil, consistent light (white LED light, not warm like an incandescent bulb or candle - which we like)- It's tough! My two year old daughter ripped it off the headboard a few times by its neck. It still holds its shape and shows no trauma- The push-button switch is on the head, so my wife doesn't have to reach far to turn it off- It's surprisingly useful around the house and outside. I've `borrowed' it a few times to work on the car, it clips right on to the hood or the stick shift for working under the dashboard etc.- I `borrowed' it again to work on the sump pump by clipping it onto a shelf and aiming it at the pump- I find I `borrow' it more and more. I used it one night for just enough light to treat and remove a yellowjacket nest (best done at night when they are dormant)- Finally, I've read that if you wake up in the middle of the night, turning on lights can make it harder to go back to sleep. So I took it into the bathroom, clipped it on a thick towel rack and read until sleepy again - without having to turn on the lights. So, I'll be ordering at least 2 more for reading and more for use around the house so that I don't have to borrow my wife's. I'm sure there are better options out there for more of a utility-type light, but this one is handy for reading and working, lasts forever on rechargeable batteries and is tough. I'm thrilled with it.

Pleased!!
I have been using the light for several weeks now and I am very pleased overall. I bought this light for two reasons. One was the price and two because it used the less expensive AAA and not those crazy expensive CR batteries. CR batteries are highway robbery!!!! Don't throw you're your money away!! It has a jack for a power cord, but didn't come with it(???) The instructions are not clear if you could fill it with rechargeable batteries and get the power cord to charge them. Either way, the quality is actually really good. I did not expect much quality at all for this price. The flexible head is very stable and stays put. I am still using the same batteries and the light is still going strong. Mine has a high and low setting. The high (both LEDs) is way too bright for me, but the low (single LED) is just right to illuminate two pages for bedtime reading. The lights are set in the head in a way that makes them only shine down on the page and not in your eyes. The clip has soft foam in it and opens really wide and is very secure. For the sake of fairness, the only two negative things that I can say about the light is that the high/low switch is right in the place where you need to grab the light head to adjust the position, so you end up turning it off or to a different setting while trying to adjust it. The other is that the clip section is kind of big and heavy with the AAA batteries in it and is especially noticeable with paperback books. I expected it to be heavy, but went with it anyway b/c of the whole CR battery deal above. Those two negatives don't bother me much at all. I would still recommend the light.
