Is the blade thin and flimsy? it appeared so in the product video also some reviews mention that. Will it survive regular use?

Blade is not thin or flimsy. Its a decent mezzaluna knife at a reasonable price. I use it to chop nuts, leafy vegetables, boneless meat pieces. Go for it.

Does it have a holder to hide the sharp edge after use?

No separate holder as such. But I retained the paper cover in which it came and in which the blade is concealed, is used by me as holder. I always keep it flat inside drawer. Paper helps it remain sharp, better than plastic. You have to wipe the blade carefully after washing before putting it back inside its paper nest.
