All I can say is wow. Previously I had a netgear nighthawk at the time was high-end and pretty pricey at the time. We had it for about 5 years and it did a very good job. We had to start looking for a replacement due to the amount of connections from our home automation that I have been slowly doing over the last year. I was up to 45 IoT type devices on top of our normal TV computers etc. On a side note we cut the cord 6 years ago so the internet is all we have for entertainment. So I did purchase the Orbi setup after doing a lot of research. I was lucky and got this one with one satellite for almost half price by using Amazon Warehouse. What I have found is those items are usually returns and are in excellent condition. This one was so cheap I would imagine since it had no documents or original packaging. With the orbi app setup was very easy. Anyway this thing is insanely fast and the coverage is crazy good we get full bars in every room on both floors now. We have 1G internet and doing a test I can actually get 960m out of it. My last router would barely get 350. The only downside I guess the router and satellite are big but not so big they are an eye sore. I think the biggest issue is cost this thing is expensive really expensive but I think worth the money if you are like we are with working from home and a crazy amount of home automation. There is even a skill for alexa to do some simple task with it.

A nightmare. Just the base station worked. Impossible to figure out. So cheap that they don’t include a link integrity light. User interface literally has no idea what is connected and if the satellites are functioning. Wasted enormous amount of time and money on this crappy system. Bought $100 mesh routers from another company, and they work perfectly. I ended up throwing this trash system away.

I’ve been using the Netgear Orbi 970 for a few weeks now, and overall, it’s a solid mesh WiFi system, but it’s not perfect. The setup was pretty easy, even for someone who isn’t super tech-savvy. The app walks you through everything, and I had the whole thing up and running in about 20 minutes.The coverage is impressive. I have a three-story house with a lot of dead zones, and the Orbi 970 pretty much wiped those out. Speeds are fast and consistent, even when multiple people are streaming or gaming at the same time. I also like that it supports WiFi 7, so it feels future-proof.That said, the price is steep. It’s definitely on the higher end, and I’m not sure everyone needs this much power unless you have a big house or a lot of devices. Also, the units themselves are kind of bulky, so they’re not the easiest to hide.One thing that bugged me is that some advanced features are locked behind a subscription. For the price, I expected more included out of the box. The parental controls and security features are good, but having to pay extra for them feels a bit much.In short, the Orbi 970 is a great choice if you want top-tier performance and don’t mind spending extra. If you’re on a budget or have a smaller space, you might want to look at other options. But if you want fast, reliable WiFi everywhere in your home, it delivers.

I originally had a basic Velop mesh system and decided to upgrade to a premium option. I chose Netgear, expecting great performance given its price and marketing. However, when I set it up in the same spot as the Velop, the units couldn't even connect to each other. Despite the large size of the device, I was willing to overlook its appearance for a superior connection. Unfortunately, this turned out to be my worst experience ever, and I felt completely ripped off. I will be replacing it with the Deco X90.
