I had one of these scales before and have used it for online selling for the past 15+ years. It held up during that whole time but finally broke after something spilled on it (otherwise it was still going strong!). I had a newer replacement scale but found it wasn't even close to being as sensitive and started causing me to undercharge on postage due to the weight being off. After two days of that I immediately looked for this scale again.It really is a great scale. Because of it's age the features are pointless (it can connect to the Internet via a serial port and needs up to WinXP, which should give you an idea of the age). However, it's extremely accurate. The replacement I got works just as well as my original.The only complaint is the actual area to work with is smaller than modern scales so sometimes you have to find a way to balance a box just right while also not covering up the display so you can see the numbers. But this is a minor issue and easily worked around.I think this company might not exist anymore which is sad because it's a great product, and I'm tempted to buy a second to store away for the future. But considering my last one last almost twenty years and only broke because of my clumsiness I have a feeling that won't be necessary. This should last me a long, looong time.

I got this scale for weighing packages that I ship through ups & usps. I've used it for 2 weeks, weighing everything from 4 oz first class mail to 15 lb ups boxes with no problems. It was spot on right out of the box, with no set-up required. It comes with an out-dated serial interface cable for connecting to a pc, but I don't use it and you don't need it connected to anything for basic weighing functions. It's got a nice (relatively) large platform with a fold-out holder for bigger envelopes and a simple large display with easy to use buttons. I can't imagine getting a better digital scale for my needs for under $10.

Could not get scale working because we could not download postage rates to the scale at least so far. The scale requires an included RJ-11 to female serial connector to download postage rates and we tried the included cable and two others on two different PCs. The fact that they require, in 2010, an RJ-11 to Serial Port is bewildering. Pelouze really didn't want to help us and discouraged us from sending the scale back to them so we are now sending back to their distributor. We wasted at least 4 man-hours on this so far.

So far, I haven't been able to get this thing to work. Pelouze says I was sold a discontinued model and my computer neither has nor uses a serial port. So, my next step is to purchase an adapter from serial to USB. Then we shall see.So Far, I am not impressed.

I received this scale as a gift in July, 2007, and was quite surprised to find that it comes with an old RS232 adapter to download the various postal rates from the internet, rather than a USB cable (my computer doesn't even have a port for an RS232). At this point in time, that adapter is antiquated. For a scale in this price range, I should not have to purchase a USB adapter to make the main features (postal rates) functional.

Had one of these postal scales at public school office for 5 or 6 years and it worked greated. Saved me many trips to the post office to weigh packages and get cost of postage then come back to office and print checks. One day it would not come on and couldn't find one anywhere for sale until I looked at Amazon. Found this one for $20.00 hardly used. It works great. It will update postage rates over the internet, just hook it up to your computer, download the pelouze sofware and you are good to go. Highly recommend.

I bought this scale to make homemade soap. I love it. It is very easy to use and very accurate. I only started using it so I don't know how it will do in the long run, but I have had a great experience with it thus far.
