NOT for violins
The mutes are made of a very stiff rubber, in fact I managed to collapse my bridge trying to put it in place. Further they are really too large for violins. They probably work okay for violas if you loosen them up first.

Work Perfectly
I purchased these even after reading some of the reviews that said that the mute did not quite the sound enough. I think it was more than sufficient and works great.

Mute Placement
I wouldn't know much about the muting capability of these mutes on a violin, but one thing's for sure. The mutes in the pictures were on the wrong side of the bridge.
