PHOTOOLEX FK300G Camera Flash Speedlite GN33 with Trigger

I've never used a speedlight before and so I have little expectations for quality and function, but considering what I paid, I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. I needed a flash for a party that was indoor/outdoor and while I struggled to match my ISO, Aperture and shutter speed, this flash was very easy to quickly adjust once I got myself dialed in. I recently used it as a slave flash and it was flawless. The unit is solid, the buttons are easy to manage, and the indicator lights quickly let you know where you're at. I think this would be a great, economical flash unit to take when you travel, or need to add additional light without buying a bunch of expensive gear. Photos came out great for the most part. I shot for 3 hours and the batteries lasted the entire event.

Solid unit that performs just as it should. I appreciate its versatility, especially the ability to use on or off camera using another flash or the included transmitter as trigger. The flash includes a reflector, a snoot, and a bag of straps, filters, etc. I didn't need TTL as I'll be using the flash mostly for macro shots. Very good product, especially for the price.

You do have to know a bit about manual photography if you're going to use modern equipment with outdated or almost obsolete stuff. Your Owners Manual will tell you. Always search the table of contents and the index of your owner's manual if things don't work right away; before you decide to return something that may actually work. Take a few minutes to research, which is what I did. On my OLMPUS OM-D/ E-M5 (an older model digital camera): to use the FK300 flash you must have your shutter speed set below 1/180 (or is it below1/80) and must have it (only) on Manual (M) Mode. The FK300 flash worked like a charm after that. On my old Fujifilm Finepix S1 24-1200mm Full-HD, you have to go into the menu and search for 'EXTERNAL FLASH' and, "Bang" it worked amazingly. On my PENTAX K1000 film camera (which I use only as reference) you could only use the flash effectively at shutter speed 1/60, red "X" Hot-Shoe symbol. Do not force the FK300's battery compartment door to open if it doesn't. Try putting a rubber band around your thumb then slide the door downward to open it. After use, it should loosen and open freely. The PHOTOOLEX FK300 Camera Flash/ Speedlite works for my old equipment. Thank you. Just got it today and still learning to use it. ; - )

Absolutely love this light! Does wonders for my Fujifilm xs20 and xe5 I have a few events that are lowlight, so I’m excited to see how this does!

Great flash! Does everything I need it to, speed is amazing and picture quality is great. Many instructions provided but so easy to use, even for a beginner. Battery life is good, runs on double a so just bet a nice battery or a rechargeable one.

Takes quite a while to charge battery.
