Solio Classic Universal Hybrid Charger

I gave the Solio S19-B38D Universal Hybrid Charger to my daughter and her family for Christmas because they live in Houston where there are power outages concurrent with hurricanes. They will use it to charge their cell phones which would be there only way of communicating with family, who live in San Francisco, at such a time. They're quite pleased with it because they can charge it up while they have power and it will hold the power for up to a year. But even if it isn't charged when their power goes out they can charge it with solar power.

My charger arrived on time and in great condition. The attachment for the Nokia is a little loose on my phone but fits great on my wife's. You really must give it a full charge first or it will start to drain your device! It took over five hours to charge via my laptop and longer in direct sunlight though it was slightly overcast that day (I live in Kenya so the equatorial sunlight is strong).

Broke after two years. Terrible charge

This thing helped me through over 2 years of village life in Africa! I mainly used it as a phone charger and since I had no electricity where I lived, I would charge the Sollo on my laptop until the laptop ran out of juice THEN I charged it in the sun. Charging it on the laptop was faster but it also charged well outside because the sun was really strong so there was an abundance of sunshine. Slower to charge on cloudy days. When the Sollo was fully charged it charged my phone really fast with more than enough juice to spare. It would take like 3 hours to fully charge it when I first got it then naturally after a year of intense use the Sollo itself started to take almost five hours to fully charge it in the sun.Buy it still did the trick for a solid two years and its size makes it totally convenient to travel with. So glad someone recommended this to me, I don't how I would've survived without it!

I bought one of these devices and never expected to be cheated.But thats how I feel about the purchase: CHEATED.When I emailed the company & explained that it wasn't charging anything that I plugged intoit per the directions, I did NOT receive a single response. And I emailed them several times.The unit just sits in a drawer but I hate to throw it away because it cost some big $$.DO NOT BUY IT.

I purchased this charger and have had no problems with it so far. It was able to charge my iPod while on vacation. I don't yet know how well it will work inside or not in full sun, though. My only problem was that the directions it comes with are only IKEA-style pictograms. It could use more actual instructions.

I needed a way to charge my camcorder battery while backpacking in the Grand Canyon. Over 6 miles from an electrical outlet, this worked perfectly. It was also light enough not to weigh me down.

The solio comes with many useless parts (such as a host of foreign adapters) and a silly suction cup for attaching the solio to a window even though the directions state that charging through a window isn't very effective.You have to charge with about 8 hours of direct sunlight---and they do mean direct. You need to move the solio as the sun moves.All that being said, it failed to charge my samsung phone and in fact, has ruined the phone. It will not charge conventionally now, either.
