The LaZBoy Trafford Executive Chair (Black model) is an excellent option if your looking for an office/work chair that has a premium look and feel to it. I was initially looking for one of those automotive-style "gaming" chairs for my home, but most of them are styled more towards the Fast-and-The-Furious market than the middle-aged-business-professional-that-can-still-game set that I belong to. Even the leather/pleather models have just a bit too much branding/logo action that I wanted. I was also considering going all-in and buying either a Herman Miller Aeron or Mira2 chair, but at the $1,000.00 to $1,300.00+ range, I wasn't sure if I could justify the price. So, I took a chance and went with the LaZBoy Trafford, primarily because I have a few LaZBoy pieces of furniture in my house (superb quality and durability), it rocks an old-school leather and wood aesthetic that screams luxury and the price (just under $300.00) is pretty unbelievable for what you're getting. First off, let me tell you that this is a BIG chair! No getting around it...it's very plush, very stable and very heavy. It didn't take very long to put together and everything you need is included in the box, hex wrench included. I have read other reviews pointing out scratched/torn leather and damaged wood surfaces, but my chair was free of such imperfections. The cable-actuated adjustments work very well and the gas-piston cylinder is smooth and solid; no evidence of "sink" once you set your desired chair height. The recline stiffness knob is quite stiff, but thankfully, once you set how "free" you want the recline action to be, I don't think you would need to adjust this too much further. Speaking of recline, I do wish there was more range, however, there is no feeling of the chair tipping over while fully leaned back...this is a very stable chair. The included casters are plastic, but are also surprisingly friction-free during movement. I am on a chair mat, however, so your mileage may vary depending on your floor situation. Finally, the chair is supremely comfortable for me. The multi-density padding on the seat works very well in not only providing a well-cushioned seat, but "locking" you in so that the seat back can provide a good amount of lumbar support to your lower back. The seat back has a "air pocket" area that allows air to flow freely behind you to alleviate "hot spots"; it must work, because after several multi-hour sessions planted in the chair, I haven't had any of the heat/breathability issues I've had with other leather-surfaced chairs. I've used a few chairs that are more comfortable and more ergonomic than this one...primarily the aforementioned Herman Miller Aeron and Mira chairs. But they cost 4 times as much. The LaZBoy Trafford comes very close to their comfort level for a much cheaper price. It comes from a reputable company and carries a 10 year warranty. It has a very refined, upscale look that will fit well with any décor. It's a very good chair on its own, but it's an incredible chair at this price.

The cushion where you sit is very hard. I thought with Lazy Boy it would be more plush but it's not. It is really hard. It does lean forward as well. I've tried everything to fix that, and I just gave up and put a blanket on it with the part by my legs under my knees rolled up so it doesn't feel like I'm always going to slide down. The chair does not lean back unless I force it back by placing my feet on a desk or something and then shove it back. I've tried everything to get it to lean back and it's just impossible without literally shoving it back by pushing on something. The back support is great, it's soft and plush, I just wish they would have made the part I have to sit on all day plush like that. I read all of the reviews and thought I was going to be getting a soft comfy chair but it's just not. Oh, and I'm only 5-2 and about 125 lbs. This chair is a big and tall, so it can't be my size affecting the comfort. It's actually very disappointing for the price.

Like everything these days, "they don't make 'em like the used" to and this La-Z-Boy is no different. It will soon be heading to a landfill, after about 5 years of ownership. Frankly, this chair should have been tossed out a couple of years ago, when it started failing. I purchased this La-Z-Boy Trafford Big and Tall Executive Office Chair on 12/28/17 for $347.11 with tax & free shipping. Interestingly, as of today, 12/12/22, I see this chair is now $464.56. IMHO, this chair is not worth any price, if you are looking for a chair that will last and be comfortable. In any case, my La-Z-Boy will be sitting near the street, waiting for the garbage man (or anyone who wants it) to come pick it up, by January of 2023. I worked in an office up until 2020 so, this chair was not used daily, until COVID. Since then, I have used it daily and it has neither held up well, nor has it been comfortable. By late 2020 / early 2021, I noticed the BONDED LEATHER was starting to delaminate. Likewise, the memory foam was starting to wear out (bottom out) so, after sitting for an hour or so, it started to feel like you are sitting on plywood. The chair still looked reasonably good and was still relatively usable so, I figured I would stretch it out. Plus, I was upset about having to replace, yet another desk chair. When I bought this chair, I did not know it was bonded leather and I would not have bought it, had I known that. I say that because the desk chair I replaced before this one was replaced for the same reasons (failing bonded leather and worn out seat foam). Worth noting, I got 7 years out of my previous chair. In any case, I purchased this desk chair, believing is was "leather" and having "AIR Technology" and memory foam. Plus, I was also sold on this chair being "heavy duty" for Big & Tall people. I'm about 5'11" and 190 pounds so, I thought it would last longer for my size although, it certainly has not. My opinion is, while there are different qualities, all memory foam sucks and it will all fail from use. Old school "Marshall Springs" with memory foam are probably the only type of support system that will actually perform well and be comfortable. Likewise, from my experience, all bonded leather is total garbage. Bottom line, I hate buying junk and then having it wind up in a landfill in 5 years. Likewise, aside from having buyers remorse, I have been sitting on this worn out, uncomfortable chair for almost 2 years now. In fact, my back is sore and my keister is aching as I'm writing this review :( Frankly, I don't know what the perfect chair is but, personally, I want to buy something that will last at least 10 to 15 years (or longer) and I'm willing to pay for it. I'm leaning towards an X-Chair X4 and hoping that desk chair won't leave me with buyers remorse and a "sore arse" in 5 years. Who knows, maybe the X-Chair will let me down but, at least they have a 15 year warranty. Conversely, this La-Z-Boy only has a one year warranty which, basically, makes it a useless warranty for anyone buying this chair who plans on using it and who expects it to perform and be comfortable because, this La-Z-Boy Trafford chair simply WON'T LAST and it certainly won't be comfortable, in the long run. FYI, my dad had a La-Z-Boy office chair that he bought in the late early 1980's. He gave me that chair in the mid-to-late 1990's and I used it in a home office for several years in various places I lived. That old La-Z-Boy held up and was still comfortable until the day I gave it away to a neighbor. I was moving and the chair looked a bit dated so, I gave it away. In hindsight, I wish I still had that old La-Z-Boy because, they truly don't make 'em like they used to.
