Perfect for home coffee enthusiasts
This is a fantastic addition for anyone with an unhealthy obsession over their coffee. If your already weighing your espresso input and output and are ready to take the next step into measuring TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) and extraction yield, this tool is for you. The form factor is sleek and functional, especially for a home-use TDS meter, and the display is clear and easy to read, showing all the key metrics such as TDS and sample temperature.Operation is straightforward: place your sample in the top cup and press the button to measure. However, getting an accurate reading with a refractometer does require a bit more care. It is best to zero at room temp before each reading. For the most precise results, the temperature of your calibration sample (typically distilled water) and your coffee sample should be nearly identical(ideally within 0.1°C). The easiest method I’ve found for cooling hot espresso is using spoon transfers to bring the temperature down quickly. If you're already deep into the coffee world, you probably enjoy that kind of process anyway. The unit supports Bluetooth connectivity and pairs with the DiFluid app, which is especially cool if you own other DiFluid gear as it can aggregate your data across devices. That said, the app’s instructions and the included manual leave a lot to be desired. There is a QR code link to tutorials that is a decent overview on how to use and the R2 video covers what is missing in the manual.Despite the learning curve, this device opens up a new level of precision for home espresso or pour over experimentation, and I’m already eyeing their matching scale next. If you're serious about dialing in your brews, this is an excellent tool to have in your kit. I think the $230 price for such a device in this form factor, quality level, and with app integration is acceptable.

Take your coffee out of the subjective anecdotal world and give it EMPIRICAL DATA!
Prior to this, your only option to gauge the quality of your coffee was by taste alone. Taste, being entirely subjective, can vary from person to person, and can even vary day to day for the same person. There are no numbers to it, just an opinion. This puts numbers to it. Raw data that lets you know the PPM, refractive index, and temperature all at once. And, oh yeah, there's an app that allows you to log the data as well as track trends. No more wondering, "Does the coffee taste weak today, or is it just me?" Nope, this is hard data. This is coffee brought into the modern, data-centric world, and I love it.It's easy to calibrate (just use ordinary water), easy to use, and easy to clean (it's waterproof!). I'm pretty sure you can't run it through the dishwasher, though, so maybe don't do that. Just rinse it under the tap and pat it dry and it's ready for the next data set. And the quality is excellent, I have other refractometers not dedicated to coffee, and this is one of the best I've seen or used. It's even rechargeable! Is it on the expensive side, I suppose. But in terms of value, there are few things people value more than empirical data to prove or disprove something, and this gives that back in spades. If coffee is either your business OR a serious hobby, this is one of those tools that seems invaluable for the information it gives back. To that end, I highly recommend this. 5 stars.

Not the best.
This works pretty good and it’s easy to use and very accurate but I do think it’s cheap made and not worth your money. The quality of it is not good and I don’t think it will last you long time. 2⭐️⭐️

Compact. Easy to use.
Compact, easy to use, easy to read screen, quick readings, what more can you ask for in a TDS Refractometer? Works as expected.

Great Tool For Any Coffee Nerd
As somebody who has gotten really into coffee over the last few years, this is a cool addition to my collection of tools. It works as advertised and has tons of functionality that I'm not even using yet.

Such a great tool for the coffee perfectionist
This is a great refractometer for testing your coffee extractions. It's so tiny and portable and even has an app for logging. The quality is great, the app is easy to use, and the carrying case even has a slot for the tiny spoon. I love it as a portable version of my much larger difluid devices
