So far so good. Fit 5888uv with 0 issuesHard plastic and metal construction. Some reviews mention a little flimsy and I see how that could be. I used an extension cable for microphone so it's not pulling on head unit. Time will tell with adhesive. Will update if anything changes. will buy again for my next uv8882. (Will need one for ham shack)

I really like the fitment of how it snaps onto the faceplate, and the design is pretty well fit, like it was made for it. The mounting cover for the face plate doesn't leave enough room for the rj45 cable to come out and make a safe bend, so I cut out a slot for the cable to come out more toward the end. If the cable comes out the hole they provide, it has to make a pretty sharp corner to get there, which puts unnecessary sideways leverage on the ethernet connector which isn't the strongest to begin with. Easy mod to make with wire cutters, now it's perfectly designed in my opinion.

The plastic piece that mounts the head unit works just fine. There is a better wire routing option on the back of the head unit that would be really nice if it was incorporated into the mount.The mental portion of the bracket is kind of dumb. I removed it from the plastic and made my own. With all the aftermarket mounting options, it would be nice if you could get the plastic piece by itself and not have to tear it apart to adapt it.

Good product let me detach my radio's faceplate and use Cat5 cable to put the radio under the car seat in the car, Im use the other one in the house to keep from stacking radios too high just have the radio faceplate out,I do clip a bit of plastic off the side bottom to run the cat 5 cable in that way instead of through the back.

This product fit and everything but I'm not liking the design very well. It is certainly functional and I give it 5 stars for that. Minus 1 star for the design.

The bracket is very flimsy. Will not hold a position. It holds the bead but will not when the heavy mic cord is attached. Would not recommend.

You need this!! If you’re installing your head unit away from base, then this is your go to part! It fits perfect in my dash try. But you can basically mount anywhere and it’ll be secure.
