Q: Will this tray keep my kids out of the bathroom so I can actually take a bath?

Yes but it has to used like a Roman battle shield/battering ram on your way to the bathroom and then you have to swing it wildly much like a professional wrestler would use a metal folding chair in a cage match. Perhaps consider purchasing a pair of them and use the spare to wedge the door shut from the inside.

Q: One edge of my bathtub is less than an inch surface for the tray to rest on - would this tray still fit?

I also have less than an inch and I just have to be a little careful that I don’t bump it but it works just fine!

Q: Would it hold a 10 pound cat? For real....the damn thing loves the tub.

LOL! Well, It would definitely hold a 5 lb. bag of sugar (I tested it it) which is pretty concentrated so if the cats weight were spread out over the length of the caddy, I would think it would hold up fine. This thing is pretty sturdy/solid. Hope this helps.
